That's a lot of misses. 0 for 21 is not bad, is it??

No, it isn't. The odds of getting three numbers right in the Illinois lottery are are 1 : 467. Unfortunately getting only three right doesn't pay very well for a D1 school.

Yep. We were finalists or at least top 5-7 (last cut when finalists announced) for all of the following:

2013
Demetrius Jackson
Monte Morris
Tyler Ennis
Xavier Rathan-Mayes
London Perrantes
Scoochie Smith

2014
Quentin Snider
Shelton Mitchell

2015
Jalen Brunson
Jawun Evans
Marcus Lovett
Jamal Murray (people felt like we had a legit shot before he blew up and reclassified)
Shake Milton
Jimmy Whitt
Landry Shamet

2016
Charlie Moore
Alterique Gilbert
Xavier Simpson
Bryce Aiken
Tony Carr
Lamar Peters

That's not even mentioning guys we may have had a chance with but decided not to offer: Tyler Ulis, Glenn Watson, and Luwane Pipkins, among others.

Close to 75 percent of the guys on that list would have saved Groce's job.

That's a lot of misses.

I've never understood why recruits that we DID offer but they chose NOT to come are considered "misses" by the fan base. What were we supposed to do? Hogtie them and force them to come somehow? Can someone enlighten me as to why every recruit that turns out good, even though we DID offer, is still considered a "miss".

The only recruits that I would ever consider a "miss" are the ones NOT recruited, such as the ones in bold above.

I think your issue is semantic in nature: you're thinking of a "miss" as a missed talent evaluation. When people use the term broadly, they're also including players we invested time and resources in, thought we had a chance with, but missed out on in the end. I think the term "miss" in this context is almost universally understood as encompassing both categories.

Anybody know which Avantis in the Normal area is best? Usually I go to the one by the airport but not sure if there's one on ISUs campus or a better one. Thanks

No I'm seriously asking

I'll be at the Avantis on campus before tip off sporting Illini orange. Can't wait to see Mark Smith live tonight after following him ever since he started blowing up. My prediction is 58-53 Eville

Why do so many feel fairly optimistic about our chances of getting Mark Smith? Has he said something that alludes to him wanting to play at Illinois? Are there any other schools that he seems high on?

How can I watch this game online?

How can I watch this game online?

by going here and paying 10 bucks. But you also get 6 super sectionals and if you click on 'watch later' you can watch them all one after the other, although they're all live. Last year I had six tabs open and didn't see any game all the way through but i'll be sticking with Simeon-Edwardsville tonight -- watch the others later.
But this is the only place it's available.

Tilmon is likely not gone if Walker is retained.
How common is it for assistants to be retained though? Especially ones that have followed a HC around for a while? I'm pessimistic about being able to retain Walker and Tilmon.

Simeon up 24 15 after 1. Smith with 4 points

Edwardsvilles little guard cannot stick with gilyard. Just torching him.

nfhs needs to put a couple more hamsters in the cage.

Simeon up 56 43 end of 3. Edwardsville with momentum

He's giving us every opportunity to land him. Normally, a coaching change this late in the game would do a team in, but Smith said he's looking forward to meeting the new coach and building a relationship with him.
