No way Tilmon leaves Illinois until after he finds out who the new coach is and if Walker is staying or not. Those answers will come in the next few weeks and I believe Illinois can block schools that he can go to like Missouri or other Big Ten schools. He should just stay at Illinois he has a bright future here!!

I don't think one dude changing his crystal ball is any reason to worry. He's most likely just throwing a dart on the board hoping he gets the scoop/hoping for page views. I'll wait until we actually hear something from Tilmon or Walker before I start worrying.

And I was just going to say how in hades does Verge not make All-State. Glad MOB and I agree on one thing at least.

The best Class 4A player I saw this season (Alonzo Verge) and the second best 3A player (Kawanise Wilkins) did not make AP All-State.

Signing with a D1 college is clearly more important then actually having a great high school season to the majority of AP voters.

I hope this is the correct thread to post this---Maybe I missed this in past threads, but---Could one of the recruiting gurus on this forum please educate me how John Groce & Co. missed out or maybe completely ignored PG Paris Lee of Illinois State and Proviso East (MVP and defensive MVP of the MVC)??

I'm not a recruiting guru but I can say no high majors recruited Paris. He's generously listed as 5-10 and having seen him play in high school, he's more like 5-8 and except for Ulis, not many kids that size get recruited at high majors.
From this list I would imagine it was down to Loyola and ISU.

Thank you so much, Mike. I was not being snarky. I really did not know what his status was coming out of Proviso East.
It's hilarious that you say Lee is "more like 5-8". I just read a current newspaper article that has him at 6' 1" :tsk: I am sure you are closer to the truth.

Has any one seen Da'Monte's twitter? Makes me wonder if this means anything or I'm being a paranoid illini fan? Also he Tweeted And then deleted it a few minutes after

I've seen everyone on the first two teams except Buchanan. I think Verge is much better than Akenton or Bibbs. I'd rate him probably higher than Pickett although I liked Pickett a lot the two games I've seen him and think he's a good get for the Illini.
I think the Sun-Times All State team is pretty close to what I would have chosen. It's picked by O'Brien, Henricksen and another Sun-Times writer named Gleason. I might have put Tilmon on that one but O'Brien said he talked to writers in the Belleville area and they said Liddell was more deserving, probably going off the Belleville East-Belleville West regional game. I'd have a tough time choosing between Gilyard, Smith and Verge so I'd probably put them all on a first team or put Verge on the 2nd team.

I taught Paris Lee for awhile when he was in high school. Great kid. He was well over 5' 8" back then. I think the talent scouts just missed on that one.

Yeah- I don't know about his height but I watched him in the state tournament several years ago and though he was playing at times on the floor with/against several more highly recruited players, he was the best player out there most of the time.

Ayo went down early in first q, being taken for x-rays and may not return. Ouch. MP leads 15-11 early in 2nd q.
Just came back to arena being supported by a guy on each side. unable to put any weight on his left leg. Nick just shaking his head.

Very excited to see my old high school Fenwick make its first ever championship game. We've had some pretty good players pass through, but never made it this far.
