It's this neurotic mindset by many in our fan base that I would imagine is pretty off putting to recruits. I do not have a single slice of evidence to support the fact that any recruit has not chosen Illinois or rescinded a commitment because of fans being neurotic, but think about the message it sends. Every single thing out of Jeremiah Tilmon's mouth has been, "I'm 100% committed to Illinois", "pride in my home state", etc... He has made it a point to say more than just, 'I am verbally committing to Illinois'.
Now, some are questioning his level of commitment. The message from those fans, if Tilmon were to read this board, is 'Your word means nothing' 'We don't trust you'.
Frankly, it is nerdy. It is the guy in school who has the really hot girlfriend, but is too insecure to make it last. That guy cannot handle other guys looking at her, and feels inadequate. He has this constant sense, and wears it for all to see, that he is not good enough for her and she will leave him.
You want Jeremiah Tilmon on your team? You want to continue to attract players of his caliber? Then, stop peeing your pants when his friend has other plans that aren't necessarily committed to yours. Stop trembling when the good looking guy down the hall gives her a look, or in this case the average looking guy (SLU) talks to her while you're not there. We are the prize. We are who Jeremiah Tilmon wants to be with, and he has not said a single thing that would lead anyone to believe otherwise.
This insecurity and distrust in recruits is such a turn off and it makes us look like wimps. I get it, our insecurity comes from countless rejections in the past, but our distrust is misplaced. I don't trust the Travis Fords and Kelvin Sampsons of the world because they have given me reason not to, but to speculate whether or not a recruit may decommit without anything from him to indicate a loss of interest is crazytown. After being on here for 10 years, I suppose I should expect nothing less, but if you want to date the hot girl, then have some respect for yourself and act like you deserve her.

This is subjective and quite delusional considering recent years and events. That is why people worry. Past experience.

Then they should vote on a rule preventing it. Of course, that's an impossibility, like trying to regulate contents of a private conversation.
Nojel Eastern is a Plan B or C guy for nearly everyone. MSU's primary target is Brian Bowen. That's not a secret. From the sound of things, Nojel's mom isn't helping his situation any, either.

With regards to Tilmon , to the best I can tell, looks like LaLu is in orientation now, starts school this Thursday...ESL starts Monday Aug 22...so I would think transferring needs to happen fairly quickly.

In Illinois don't you have to be living in the area and enrolled for 30 days prior to the first day in order to be eligible for sports?

Staff spent way too much time this Spring/Summer following JSmith. You saw my scUM cancelation post last week, now hearing rumblings of no XU. Nova has moved onto Tucker and Samuels a long time ago. Speaking of those 2, they are both scheduled to visit Nova on 8/24. Seems like we are getting down to fewer options for JSmith. Somebody even mentioned IU for Smith.
