One of the best games of the summer. Trent Frazier was fabulous

OTHERS OF NOTE
Trent Frazier did it again on Friday as he was the catalyst for a giant comeback win for his Florida Elite squad. With Illinois head coach John Groce in attendance in the morning and an assistant from the Big 10 squad watching later on, the 6-foot guard scored 29 points in every which way possible as he nailed a giant 3 to tie things up with under a minute to go and provided sticky on-ball defense that led to turnovers and run-outs for his teammates. He might not be ranked by every scouting site but the kid is going to win a lot of games wherever he attends college next year.
Florida Elite is in Championship bracket play and goes up against the winner of this mornings Douglas Brothers Elite vs. God's Property Select (which seems a little unfair) at 2:30 CT.

So when reporters tweet out who these coaches are watching, do they know exactly who the coach is there for? Or do they just assume based on the offers? Like when someone says "Illinois is here watching Scruggs and Wilkes". Because I'm pretty sure we're just watching Scruggs.

Frazier is 6' 2" or 3", right? And who is EasyE2432? Liddell?

6'2" on ESPN, rivals and 247.
6'1" on scout.

No roster listed for his school. I'd really like to lock him up. Kudos to Groce and staff for talent evaluations. To be consistently in on kids before they blow up is incredible.

To be fair, Frazier blew up last year at the same event. Similar stuff was written then: elite quickness, gets to the rim at will, always attacking. Illinois got in on him then and hasn't let up since. Frazier is a classic case of a kid who seems to be a top-100 talent by all rights, but he doesn't fit the surefire NBA prospect physical profile and hasn't played in many AAU showcase events.

He's killed it at Best of the South, which is a moderately competitive tournament (mix of EYBL teams and lower-level squads), and starred on a state championship team in HS, but evaluators are skeptical of any kid who doesn't consistently prove their ability in high-profile AAU tournaments against elite competition (unless the kid in question is 7'0 and runs like a gazelle - then they figure the body/athleticism is proof enough; or if Frazier was 6'4, 200 with the same athleticism he has at 6'1, 170).

Future150.com ‏@Future150 1h1 hour ago Personal Relationship Has 2019 SF Favoring #Ilinois Early On I The latest from #UAAFinals. http://bit.ly/2aipP9b

Milwaukee Washington (WI) 2019 small forward Deontay Long has had a standout season on the Under Armour circuit, and on Friday at the Under Armour Finals, he was quick to mention Illinois as a school he's favoring early on in his recruitment.

ps - this is a pay article and only the above is freely available so no details on an offer or what the personal relationships are.

Florida Elite goes to Las Vegas Classic next week July 20-24. This is one of the big time tourneys. FE will play in the Super Pool.
Speaking of FE, 'President of FE" Conrad Foss says Frazier has offers from Maryland and Seton Hall. Go nuts offer freaks.:D

By now it should be clear that Frazier's lack of big time offers is not due to a lack of talent, but instead a testament to Groce and the staff's talent evaluation abilities. I've seen a few people say Juwan Evans 2.0 and that might be a little extreme but Frazier could very likely be a consensus top 100 soon.

I trust Groce and Co. when it comes to talent evaluation. I just don't buy into the whole AAU hype/money machine. Terrible coaching, subpar defense, and the politics of it all... Doesn't bother me in the least that Frazier hasn't been a
part of all of that.

If Frazier finishes BoTS with a big game today and continues to put up big numbers and team wins at the Las Vegas Classic, I'll be shocked if he doesn't climb into the 75-100 range on most sites.

He could actually play 4 more games at BOTS if FE wins out, but since it's single elimination, maybe only 1.

I wasn't comparing Frazier to Evans as players, but more drawing a parallel to their recruitments and rankings histories after being identified by Groce and staff. I don't think Frazier is quite the caliber of player that Evans is, but I do expect him to rise up in the rankings significantly. Where he's ranked on Scout is probably closest to where he should be (74).

Meyer triggered these 3 w/a Xavier pick the day before. Still not counting Illinois out on this one.
Getting my hopes up for Scruggs with TCTORNADO's comments!

And Mr. Goodwin, I'm saying 95% certain. His wait is to give us a little time to still be thankful for JT's commit. Terrence Lewis's comment of "maybe" another visit to Illinois sounds like he's very interested, but that Goodwin really has first dibs.

For all of you insiders:

Let's say Groce and Co. land Frazier and Goodwin. (What a class that would be!!!)

I know another big would be a priority, but wouldn't a bouncy long wing who can shoot the 3 who is also a coaches son like Terrence Lewis be a nice addition to the class?

I would love to add a quality big like Kiir, Culver, or John but I don't feel confident in landing any of them.

Finally, is there any concern that Goodwin will "McBride"? by that I mean be a really good h.s. player (b/c of being already physically developed), but just an average BIG player?
