In final six for Theo John.
Illinois, Purdue, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Marquette, California

Theo John would be a solid pickup. I've watched three full AAU games and he's a B1G level athlete with a lot of defensive potential. Probably not ever going to give you much as a scorer and I don't see good rebounding instincts either. He could be similar to Egwu in that his contributions aren't reflected on the stat sheet. The hustle, rim protection, athleticism, and defensive versatility would be extremely valuable, especially coming off the bench his first 2-3 years. Actually, maybe Sam McLauren would be a decent comp. having Sam for 4 years would have been huge.

Can we actually get recruits the new logos for when we make the top 6, 8 or what ever they put out.

That Frazier is even better than many of us expected, seems to be legit top 100, and also that he continues to sing of Illinois' as his #1. It's hard to resist hopping on this bus. But only beer and brats are being served.

Yeah, when was the last time we had a guy we were really pursuing say, "Illinois is #1" from the get go? Then again, when was the last time ANYONE said "Illinois is #1" from the get go?

I'm surprised that Maryland isn't on this list. Cal will probably get an OV because it would be a fun trip, but he'll end up at a midwestern school. I don't like our chances right now, which is too bad because he would be a perfect fit for our roster moving forward. He's a guy that will need a couple of years to develop and would be in store for a major role as a RS-So or Jr. I think the hometown Gophers are probably in the driver's seat for him.

DMW also dropped due to lack of being featured on the MIF. A team which he hates playing for by the way.

Why play with them? Was that the best option to play high level AAU ball? Since he was already committed would the St Eagles of been a better option?

Didn't Tilmon say all along that Illinois was his leader? I think the same goes for Goodwin, right?

Agree, would appear to be a Minny guy.

Wasn't it a joke once long ago that we needed a player named "Trent Frazier"?

Ha ha. I vaguely remember that. He would have the shooting ability and overall offense of Trent Meacham and the defense, toughness, and passing of Chester Frazier. That would have been about 7 years ago. I guess all good things come to those who wait (or one of our players broke a mirror in the locker room and our curse is finally over). :thumb:

Elijah Thomas publicly said Illinois was the favorite multiple times.

Sounds like the perfect player to back up Tilmon for 15 mpg.

Will John or Kiir be playing anywhere this weekend?

@JoeyFigueroa3
just talked to #Illini 4star offer @lewis24Terrence. says he's planning a visit to Illinois in August plus IowaState,UAB,UNLV,Bradley, others

That visit puts some pressure on Goodwin. Don't see how we can take both. Don't see Groce putting Lewis off if he wants to commit.

Didn't Scout/Evan Daniels interview w/Lewis on Sat @ NY2LA have him visiting Oregon, XU, UNLV, Miami, Iowa State and possibly Illinois, Different teams than he said today.
I can't remember Groce and or staff being mentioned as viewing his NY2LA games. They viewed Smith a lot.
Also, if we take Goodwin, John, & Frazier, where is the 7th ship going to come from?:)

John has excellent size, physique and good athleticism. But his hoops skills leave me wanting more. Good that we made his short list. Prefer Culver, Kiir, the Aussie and the 7 footer from FL.

Does it really matter? As long as we have a logo on there I am good.
