#Illini head coach John Groce is here watching Jordan Goodwin. MSU assistant Dwayne Stephens is here. So is Chris Collins.
Derek Piper ‏@DPiperScout 6m6 minutes ago
Part 2 of the Jordan Goodwin show didn't take long to start. Put down a slam less than 5 secs after the tip.

Jeff Borzello ‏@jeffborzello 9m9 minutes ago
John Calipari in between two courts right now. Kevin Knox on one side, Trae Young, Nick Richards, Tremont Waters on the other. #PeachJam

That's good, Cal. Stay between courts 3 and 4 and don't worry about court 2.

Derek Piper ‏@DPiperScout 8m8 minutes ago Plenty of B1G intrigue for the STL Eagles w/ Goodwin, Finke & Garland. Groce, Crean, McCaffery, Collins & Beilein all courtside.

Any word on where Izzo is?

Watched a bit of Goodwin and Finke playing, rough half for the Eagles. I think the team made 3 baskets the entire time I was watching.

The entire Eagles team is ice cold. Goodwin is playing with great energy as usual, but can't get anything done right now. Finke and Garland not making as much of an impact as they did last night. 27-22 Albany at the half.

This is what will concern the bluest of blue bloods. But the kid is a baller

Jordan Goodwin is having a hard time w/ the City Rocks' length. His game is predicated on attacking the rim. Gotten blocked many times.

More on Theo John:

Positives: quick leaper; above average B1G athlete; very good motor - runs the floor hard, dives for loose balls; fundamentally sound defender - doesn't leave his feet, maintains good position, boxes out well as a rebounder, good timing on helpside blocks

I'd say that puts him well above average...

If Goodwin improves as a shooter, it will open up his game. It's not even that his form is broken - he just doesn't really ever take threes. I think he always feels like he can use his strength and ball handling to bully his way to the hoop. But yeah, he got blocked at least three times on layups. Needs to make defenders respect his shot. He had a rough game after looking unstoppable last night.

Rough game for Goodwin, but still finished with 18 pts, 14 reb (8 offensive), 3 stl, 1 blk

JG 7 of 22 from the floor, Garland 5 of 14, Finke 5 pts. Rough games even with the final stats for Goodwin and Garland.

And Meanstreets is having shooting problems too. Down 10 with 4:30 to go.

It is astounding how productive Goodwin is despite some very clear areas for improvement(shooting, not stellar athlete). I'm actually happy this kid has some identifiable weaknesses. If there was ever a prospect who can turn a weakness to a strength, it's Goodwin. That boy is going to will himself into becoming a plus shooter. Put him in a strength&conditioning program and he will negate length. He will be an absolute handful attacking off the dribble in a couple years. He's too much of a bull and he plays with too much fire to fall short.

Yea good news that Izzo sent an asst and no Texas rep.

Izzo and Shaka watched him last night, per tctornado. It's probably hard for a coach to watch every single game of 1 kid in a tournament like this.. though Groce is 2 for 2 with Goodwin games.

That is the line of a rough game.... absurd

Yeah, it wasn't pretty though. He plays with so much energy and tenacity that he'll always rack up hustle stats. Last night he looked like his best-case scenario: a smart, cerebral player who's so relentless and physical he can get to the line at will and defend 4 positions. Today he looked like his worst-case scenario: a high level P5 glue guy/role player who does the dirty work, but can't create his own shot. Best case: Marcus Smart/smaller Draymond Green. Worst case: Roosevelt Jones. Obviously you take it either way.

Tugs misses a buzzer-beater. MS and NSB going to OT 71-71.

St Louis Eagles tip off at 8:30 against California Supreme. Without Tilmon, this is the worst possible matchup for STL: Cali starts Deandre Ayton (7'1, 235; #1 overall in 2018) and Brandon McCoy (7'0, 220; #8 overall in 2017) inside. They pretty much block every other shot inside. The Eagles will have to be on fire from downtown to stand a chance.

MS wins 81-78 in OT but it amazes me they did. I swear I got to where I had to close my eyes every time Bowen looked to pass or Gilyard started dribbling.
