I would also hesitate to say that there is any actual news. Just some smoke and rumblings (all good things).

There was some suggestion of a potential decision as early as Monday - but nothing actually set in stone at this point.

Perhaps that has to do with the relatively quiet nature of the board.

Yeah I think people got too ahead of themselves and heard what they wanted to hear. Now, if there is actual press conference set or another visit to campus tomorrow, I think chilling some champagne may not be a wrong idea.

In other news, Cliff was released from Portland and Meyers signed a 4 year $40 million dollar contract with Portland.

I don't know... Tilmon's whole recruitment has been pretty quiet and low key for years. I don't know why it would change now.

Well, Alexander can always fall back on his KU education.

Good for Myles!

Alexander was the first kick in the gut for me. Well, IDKWTI before that actually. Then I was dumb enough to fall into the trap of thinking Thomas or Evans (or both) would end up at Illinois. Plus throw in the Snider situation.

So now, I don't get excited anymore, but if Tilmon would commit I would party like it's 1999. I think many on this board obviously feel the same way. Not a lot of build up, but if it happened, this board would be out of control (in a good way).

I'll be refreshing more than normal tomorrow but I agree. I'll wont get excited until verbal.

Or waiting for them to pull a Snider and leave us hanging...

For me, that was the biggest stunner. But I have a much better feeling about Tilmon and Goodwin. Might be the local connection. Might be the LaLumiere thing with Tilmon for me. ;) Somehow, though, this year seems different. I'm still wearing a cup, but willing to believe this just may be the class for Coach Groce. Really hope it is. He deserves it.

He does deserve it. All of the misguided hate for him has gotten so old.

Wouldn't those skills translate to just about any offense?

Taking Trent Frazier is a no-brainer, yes, take him! He is one of the most skilled and best point guards in Florida that the Illini need for our offense - high scorer, distributor, MVP, and high school championship to his credit. If it means anything at all, most crystal balls are pointing are our way. Interesting that Frazier's high school in Wellington is about 20 miles from West Palm Beach where Derek Harper went to high school.

If Tilmon and Goodwin commit, our case for Scruggs becomes much, much stronger. If the staff feels they have a legit shot at Scruggs, then maybe it isn't as clear cut on Frazier. But otherwise, yes, we take him.

This week could be very interesting - a possible Illini commit and a VP pick.

I think you take Frazier anyway. Still have room and Scruggs is in another league. Frazier seems like a development guy.

I think if we land Tilmon we get a class of Scruggs, Damonte, Picket(will likely redshirt), Goodwin, and then I say we take a shot at a highly touted recruit who we have not talked to yet

Yeah, that'll work. ;-) The howls from the east will be music to my ears.

A true PF would top my list. The 6' 9" FL kid looks good.

I think if Tilmon does commit, I'll probably pull a Brandon Paul after Griffey hit the winner against IU: Just walk quietly to a chair and sit down, watch the world go nuts and just soak it in. I have no experience with that kind of moment as an Illini fan.

I have to think Groce has mentioned that, perhaps subtley, to Tilmon and Goodwin. "If you're coming, sooner is better, so we can start building a great class for you to play with..."
