Roy Schmidt (and his bro) aren't exactly the font of Illini recruiting. Then again, even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every now and then.

Am beginning to wonder if it could be two exciting Mondays in a row for the Univ Of Illinois recruiting-wise. We shall see...

How in the world do you see Roy's tweets? I've tried several times to follow him but he denies me ha

Different than last year's Aussie big, Froling. Doesn't have nearly the outside J or range. But, damn, pretty impressive clip (albeit weak competition). Kid has a very high ceiling, IMO.

Agreed. The competition didn't seem great so you'd expect him to dominate which it looked like he did. The kid has got some tools to work with.

Reminds me a little of Josh Sharma

@jeffborzello harry giles and tatum on duke is huge for the whole CBB world . A real contender , not a waste of a year

@whiteboyshooter Yeah, that waste of a year was brutal for Simmons. No. 1 pick. Going to a blue blood worked out well for Cheick/Skal, right

Florida Elite wins 70-60. They are in the final four of the championship bracket. Did not see that coming. Play Southern Stampede EYBL again tomorrow morning at 10 CT.

For years, we've been pointing towards the Class of 2017. Seems like it's really happening.

It's like we're playing chess and just about everyone else is playing checkers. After years of playing checkers. So sweet.

Yep. John Groce has made a few adjustments in his approach to recruiting, and he now seems to be dialing up all the right numbers. :thumb:

College basketball is more about talent than coaching, and it's especially about having talent that fits your scheme. If Groce finishes this class with Goodwin, Frazier, and someone like Smith, he's going to have a stable full of thoroughbreds. We might look back a decade from now on this summer as the turning point for Illini hoops. The anti-Groce crowd will be so confused.

NY2LA: Coaches see Terrence Lewis

“The schools recruiting me the hardest are Illinois, Xavier, Iowa State, Auburn, Miami and that’s it mostly I’m planning to take visits in the summer,” he added.

Although Lewis hasn’t set any visit dates, he does known which schools he wants to see.

“I’m going to visit UNLV, Oregon, Xavier, Iowa State and Miami probably or Illinois again,” Lewis said.

..."or Illinois again" is a good sign.

Unless we get Goodwin or another Top 50 kid instead, I think it will be just a pretty nice top 20 or so class.
Tilmon was huge get for sure.
Right now we have two three star guys and if we add Frazier another three star.

Really need another big dog to make a Top 10 type class.

Still behind the type of classes being reeled in by top tier programs, but definitely a nice step for us.

Justin Young ‏@JustinDYoung 12m12 minutes ago Saturday stud: Trent Frazier of Florida Elite is taking on all comers. Was terrific (again) today. Has team in #BOTS Final Four.

How different you can feel about a player in just one week's time. I was a skeptic and while this wasn't Peach Jam, it was a legit tourney with 72 17u teams including some Nike EYBL squads and he's been one of the best 5 or 6 players in it. My opinion counts for nought but I'll be happy if we get him.
