That's a brutal quiz. I don't think I could answer any of those correctly. It's not like I'm just a casual fan either, I read the recruiting threads pretty much every day religiously. I've only been posting for three years, but I've been lurking since at least the IDKWTI days.

#9--Fletch won the all team/staff ping pong tournament. :)

Verge at 200 is cuckoo, unless they discount his ranking based on "Likelihood to be Eligible As A Freshman".

fwiw, I agree 100%. I look for him to have a mind-blowing senior season at Thornton. I imagine Tai Streets will give him the keys and let him do his thing. And if he can't get into college, there's always the And1 tour.

LOL. Your talking about a kid that has played one season, most of it out of position and using the term STILL? Are we to assume you have seen him recently going up against other bigs? ;)

I may be wrong, but I predict

TJL will STILL need to improve after his freshman year.
Tilmon will STILL need to improve after his freshman year.
TFrazier will STILL need to get stronger after his freshman year. :D

In terms of college coach longevity, a single season is significant. But yes, I expect Finke will improve. The OP, however, commented that he's happy with Mav's progress, which in my opinion amounts to a grand total of 3 good months of basketball. If three solid months is enough to claim the coaches have done an "excellent job" developing Mav, then pointing out that Finke looked equally lost at the end of the season as he did in the beginning seems fair, too.

The bottom line, for me, is that absolutely nothing is settled in terms of our staff's ability to develop players or teach effective team play. Recruiting appears to be getting back on track (and thank GOD for that), but there's a long way to go. And the sky is blue and water is wet...

That's not the way I remember it.

Davis developed late so he didn't have the multi-year hype train like Lebron did, but on the All-American Game circuit he looked like something out of Space Jam.

Wiggins definitely has an argument. For me it's just that he was such a familiar TYPE of player, even though he was a ludicrously athletic version of it.

Parker and OJ Mayo were just the #1 recruits of their respective years. No different from Brandon Jennings or Harrison Barnes or whoever.

For some reason I remember Sebastian telfair being a massive hype train. Obviously that didn't pan out. But I'm guessing at the time he would've been considered a "6 star" if you wil.

This would be the 6-star list in my memory as a basketball fan:

Ewing, Shaq, Garnett, Lebron, Oden, and Anthony Davis.

You're tempted to put some other guys on there, Durant, Wiggins, Kobe, maybe Pearl Washington, hypothetically maybe Benji Wilson. But I think what makes those six guys unique was how complete they were even as high school seniors. They weren't just on another physical and athletic plane from everyone else, they weren't just mold-breaking players, they arrived fully formed even as 18 year olds. Doesn't mean they didn't get better from there (all of them but Oden did), but their role and their purpose on a basketball floor was almost preordained.

Moses Malone (RIP) Never saw him in high school, but he transitioned quite well, ABA all star as a rookie, straight out of high school.

My bad. Dyslexia typo on Pickett. Actually he's 210, although the difference between 201 and 210 is at best negligible. But I always strive to be accurate.

Obviously its impossible for me to watch all the 209 ranked ahead of Pickett, but no way in hell there is 209 players better than him in the country.

I'd tend to agree but to put it in perspective, each team has to replace about 3 players per year, on (very rough) average, simply based on roster size / 4 grade levels. Of course it's a lot more complicated than that, but that's a ballpark estimate of 89*3 = 267 recruits to P7 schools (yes I included the Big East and A10). So this at least confirms that anyone at about 250 or better is a good enough player to be recruited to a P7 school, and that's still a pretty good player imho.

Had a decent NBA career, so I think it's safe to say he would have been a very good+ college player.

Any news regarding an Official Visit from Jacob Epperson who now attends LaLu? :chief:

Surprised/excited to see him at #58 in the updated Scout rankings. He'd be a huge get, even though he's got a Tisdale build currently. Hopefully the La Lu connection pays off.
