Nope not at all. I think Dee realizes when you lose a $200,000/year job that you need to get income from somewhere. Just rumored that he is looking to Self for help. Currently, coaching for the Irvins.

Doesn't he coach Meanstreets?

I do not know what happened with Dee, not going to speculate out of respect for Dee.

The picture TCTORNADO posted with Self is just showing that Dee is making the rounds, much like he was just on campus with Underwood. It is his responsibility as an AAU coach, we shouldn't read more into it than that, IMHO

Not going into detail, AND NOT Having all the facts, there was alot of Twitter chat that Dee had and more photos. I'm pretty sure Whitman was not happy.

Fast-rising Indianapolis wing Aaron Henry (@henny2x) tells me he'll visit the #Illini campus on Saturday. Per Piper*

Also we didn't make Hellems final seven.

Disappointing on Hellems, but we didn't need him anyway.:D

Would be nice to get class rolling with a commitment today...Not Winsday, but I would be very happy with this commit to get things going.

I know the smallest amount of information compared to the rest of you. What Dee did happened before he left the University and has NOTHING to do with what happened last month.

My understanding is - He made a serious and stupid mistake while being employed by the University. It will be difficult for the University to overlook what happened in order to approve his hiring again the future. I'm not certain it is out of the realm of possibilities, but it would be very difficult.

Dee is still an Illini through and through, and for those of you who have met him you know he bleeds O&B.

It sounds like Dee wasn't too happy with himself.

I'm going to resist speculating, and be glad that those involved decided they could handle it privately. Seems like some things are better that way.

It's not easy to give up $200,000/yr plus a great benefit package to shake hands and tell stories.:)

I hope that doesn't mean whatever Dee did was something against the best interests of UI and in the interests of KU.

With out going into too much detail, I would like to share a portion of what I know regarding Dee's situation, that is always a hot topic of discussion around here, just to have safe keeping over a delicate topic regarding one of our all time greats...

Around the time Dee put in his resignation, and the times leading up to it... I was made aware, 1st hand, that Dee was going thru a separation with his wife and it was taking a huge toll on him, especially in his personal life. He was hurting, as it would any man, when you've met and married the love of your life. So from what I understand, that situation was effecting him too heavily off the court, and he needed some time away from the game to deal with those personal matters, and with himself.

So let's just continue to pray that everything works out for his good in the end & encourage him as a fan base & support him as much as possible, as many have. & The only reason I'm saying all of this, is because i don't like to see all the speculation about him. Its not fair to him or the University IMO.

But I don't know if they finalized it, or went all the way through with the divorce, but from what I understand and know from my own life exoeriences , is that any seperation or divorce can take a huge toll on individuals finacially , so I look for him to get back on a staff somewhere in the near future. Not just for that reason alone, as that is something he obviously has a passion for and wants to be back heavily involved in...

Hope I didn't say to much. Go Illini!! :shield:

This is the 2nd post I've seen about this and I just gotta say something...

It wasnt one big stupid thing that Dee did. If that was the case, we would have heard about it. Come on now y'all! This is the type of speculation that is unfair to the former player and the University!

It was a serious of things that were taking place, actions, decision's, lifestyle choices, that were contrary to Dee's normal charecter, and outside the parameters of the role that he was specifically contracted & signed up to do here at the University. Because he was unable to show significant progress in the time given, regarding these issues... It was in the best interest of Dee and the University, that he resigned.

But to say that it was one big thing and that he would not be allowed to be employed at the UofI again is taking it too far! That's Twitter rumors gone crazy and just pure speculation! Speculation that is unfair to all involved, imo.

CONFERENCE CALL: Who is set up for big fall on hoops recruiting trail? @CoreyEvans_10 goes conference by conference: http://rvls.co/ConferenceCall

This is Corey Evans, who isn't known for always being correct on Illini predictions, but it does indicate that things with Ayo may not be as 'in the bag' as many here-- and on other boards -- want to believe. It's interesting that people connected with Xavier and Illinois both tend to think they're way in front with him.
The Musketeers sit in a great spot with five-star guard Ayo Dosunmu, and as they continue to battle Illinois and Kansas along with a handful of others, a commitment to the Musketeers should come as no surprise. They do need to add further ammunition to its backcourt and on the wings; they remain in the recruitments of Noah Locke, Isaiah Mucius, Aaron Henry and Talen Horton-Tucker.

And Talen keeps racking up offers. I continue to have hope, though still think Izzo has the inside track right now.

What you shared above and then again in this post is along the lines of what I heard as well. Dee was in a bad place, as is expected going through that type of situation. As I said, I only had a small bit of knowledge, so you clearly have even more inside information on this than I. I knew he was struggling, and I knew he made some stupid decisions. The problem was, as the poor decisions racked up, and some of them became more and more serious, it turned into a problem.

None of my post was meant to drag Dee through the mud. I've met him many times, I lived a few doors down from him in college. He is a great guy. He was the face of our University for a few precious years. He was amazing to the community and to the fans and kids. I want him back in the athletic department as bad as anyone. From what it sounds like, he is back on the right track and I hope he is able to get back into coaching soon.:chief:

Couldn't agree more & I really appreciate your response!

I wasn't trying to call you out specifically, or at least that wasn't my intention. But rather just to shine light on the situation as a whole, because of the amount of chatter there has been about it...

Any word on Griffin visit?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My guess is combes and/or TCTORNADO are probably there, sporting their Illini gear and being honed in on his recruitment like flies on garbage. Hope the visit is going well for the young man.
