Tate just announced on WDWS' Saturday Sport show that Tilmon is coming to Illinois.

That was my impression based on the time when Goodwin committed to SLU. He seemed to get as much joy from Illinois misfortune as he did from the positive news for SLU.
Let's be fair. Part of our joy at landing Tilmon was being able to stick it to UNC. A lot of the reactions on the UNC board were similar to our reaction to SLU landing Goodwin. "What does he see in that program? Have fun losing for a bad coach," etc.

This is not true. I used to listen to his show on 590 the fan and remember him saying on at least one occasion that he didn't care about Illinois Athletics. He is the biggest homer there is.

Most of the StL sports reporters include info on the Illini in their broadcast. They spend more time on MU and SLU since their target audience is heavily weighted towards fans of those schools.

Cusamano seems to delight in reporting on the Illini when they lose, and will only mention a win in the shortest spot possible. No doubt he is biased.

Cusamano has changed drastically over the years into a cranky old man looking for attention.... He hasn't handled other guys passing him up in the Stl Sports radio scene very well

I really can't stand him. His stupid one liners on his stories make me sick. He's a little rat of a man. However, he did do a good story on my cousin so I have to give him points for that.

Tigerboard appears to be a mixed bag of reactions at the moment. Ironically, some of them appear to be taking field trips here to gain information.

Tigerboard visitors: we don't know anything either. :)

Maybe was posted already and I missed it but now you guys got me stalking kids on twitter and Javon put this up yesterday:

#Illini fans show some love to @JavonPickett . He was the first to commit in the '17 class! Pickett will be Malcolm Hill 2.0 #OurState #ILL

So uh Brad needs to find an assistant with good Chicago ties

That's the deal with every Illini coach. I think it's good that a Fire guy, Davon Dillard, played for Underwood last year and saw a big uptick in minutes and stats from his freshman year.
Personally, I like the Irvins and enjoy listening to them. I'm sure they're not the cleanest guys when it comes to recruiting --almost nobody in Chicago is -- but they do look out for their kids which is what it should be all about. Unlike say Sonny Cox who was about as sleazy as they come and was all about Sonny.

ps - Jeebus, if I'd known all the Irvin haters and conspiracy theorists were going to be up in arms about it, I wouldn't have even put it up.

Any chance that maybe Robert Smith would be in play as an assistant and would that be someone we should consider bringing in

Speaking of the pro Cuozou media, locking down Pickett, Tilmon, and possibly Smith would sure force their hand one would expect to expand their pro-Illini coverage with so many area kids on the team together. Not that I think that will have much effect on the Dbag Cusamonos, but there are some guys who seem to give us a little fairer shake like Drummond at KMOV.

So what Chicago guys do Duke, Cal, St. John's, Kansas have on their staffs. Seems like a different standard for Illinois. He says he likes Groce and wanted him to succeed and Groce had Chicago guy Parham on staff. Who did Irvin send to help that success?

Same dude posted Monty Williams as a done deal a few weeks ago!

Even people with in's get fluctuating news. Two sources saying that Tilmon's coming is better than none. Just wait it out. I feel good about it.

Does seem like we're never going to get a fair shake from the state of Chicago unless we play their 'games.'

Need to win without them then things may open up. Keep relationships strong though...

Which Fire guys did Irvin have control over 'sending'? Jabari, Cliff, Jalen, Jahlil, Lovett? Those were all family decisions. "Maybe" Charlie, but I imagine once his father had that severe stroke, all recruiting dynamics changed drastically. It's a myth that the Irvins are some kind of basketball godfathers doling out players. We've gotten plenty of Fire players over the years and hopefully will in the future. The Fire 15U and 16U teams were loaded last summer. Develop a relationship with their families like we did with Tilmon and Pickett and we should do fine.
