I agree that Fox isn't a bad coach. But best coach in UGA history? Hugh Durham, Jim Harrick, and Tubby Smith would disagree.

Ultimately, 1 NCAA tournament in 7 years will be his undoing.

I agree with you that basketball isn't a priority at UGA, and at least Fox has had his teams competitive. But he has an overall losing record in SEC play, and while he wins 20+ games often, he has never won more than 21.

The 20-win mark isn't what it used to be. It used to be a mark of a good team, but with 31-game regular seasons (not to mention conference tourneys and the NIT), there are plenty of weak teams that can win 20. Fox's problem is that he's losing 14-15 games pretty much every year.

Well 20 is significant in that Georgia doesn’t make it there often. And lately we don’t either. Tubby was at Georgia 2 seasons. That isn’t long enough to make him the best ever even if they were the best 2 seasons. Harrick!? 4 seasons with only 1 with more than 20 wins. You’ve gotta be kidding me.

Corey Evans has reported that Illinois has offered 6'9" 225# Valdir Manuel from Patrick School in N.J. 2018.

We need guys who can pressure but contain the dribble. That way the guy guarding the next pass can continue to deny. We need guys who can be one pass away and not get beat back door. A “rim protector” would help but if we are playing a team that can space the floor at all with their big guy he doesn’t mean much. Hopefully our guys can figure it out, and they have improved at not giving up backdoor cute but we still foul too much. There is a crap ton of coaching/recruiting that needs to be done.

Umm, he won an SEC championship, went to 2 NCAA tournaments, and was coasting to a third until they had to vacate the season due to an academic scandal. The guy was filthy dirty, but as a coach......certainly better than Mark Fox.

Is that really a debate?

Vlad would give us much needed size. I look for Ebo to improve next year. He improved a lot from the start to the end of the year. We really need some beef in the paint.

Much further ahead of Ebo at comparative points in HS.

He reportedly has indicated he will take an official soon and we are in his top 4.

looks to play above the rim, which I like, I guess its just me but looked awefully week kneed. I hope they looked at the other big who was actually guarding the opposing 4 star big man. He had some nice moves for a big man and he already comes with some meat on his frame. Appeared to be able to shoot the 3 and can pass back out when shooter is open. Just sayin.

I'm the furthest thing from a mizzou supporter. In fact, I consider this season a success only for the fact that we beat mizzou. However, while I don't know anything about Tyler, but are any of those points really all that outlandish? I mean, this board has said at various points that Ramey is a likely mizzou lean and that Mark Smith might transfer out.

1. I would be really surprised if Ramey went to Mizzou.

2. I would be really surprised if Tyler Cook transferred.

3. I would be shocked if Mark Smith transferred.

Mizzou fans lives in a fantasy world, but so do we at times.

Any thoughts on BU securing the services of the next Mr. ILL basketball? And if so, who might that be? Unless of course, we already have.

I only listened to it because I was looking into the Tyler rumor (I though he might go to the NBA after next season and had a hard time understanding why he would transfer).

Anyway, I probably shouldn't have listened to those homers, but I was intrigued after watching Tyler play against us yesterday and watching him today, and couldn't resist listening further to find out what they thought about Mark.

:illinois:

That podcast is hosted by Sam Snelling who played for Webster Groves and was an assistant coach there. He knows a lot about St Louis high school basketball. He thinks the leaders in recruiting Ramey are Texas and Oklahoma State.

Not seeing it. I stopped at 5 mins in - but he seemed to be the last guy down the court much of the time. Sort of reminds me of Austin Colbert. Limited, but good offer list so perhaps this was not his best?

If this kid is what we might get with one of the hold over scholarships, then we might have well tried to use them instead of holding them over...just saying, he does not look like someone you would "Save" a ride for?:chief:

I had the same reaction, but I watched the whole thing and warmed up to his game the farther I went in. Not overly impressed.

I'm surprised nobody has noticed that Patrick School runs a similar spread offense to BU's system.

Both offers are to players that can come in and instantly recognize their role in the offense.

But yes let's keep questioning evaluations based off a few youtube vids. :tsk:
