Congrats Alan!

Funny, he posted that graphic—then deleted it and reposted it and said "not committed"—then posted a commitment.

I'm sure the kid is a good player, but are we trying to create a roster completely devoid of forwards and centers?

We need shooters and it looks like we just landed one. Idk about his athleticism, but he looks freaky long and could be a solid defender.

He's long and he can shoot. We need that. Welcome, Alan!

He may not be a day one starter but then again he may. Great get by BU and co. Creating in roads to NY is huge for the program now if we can get back into Cali and Texas this won't take long at all turn around. Have a feeling we are gonna get another commit in the coming days.

Whiskey is too expensive to waste spitting it out over "reaching" comments. NO WAY, and I mean NO WAY this kid starts day one....too funny, no offense but he will start out slightly ahead of......Vesel maybe on our current roster?:chief:

I thought I saw somewhere that Griffin shot 48% from 3 this year. Kid has range.

According the the Writing Illini article:

During this past AAU season, Griffin ran with the New York Rens in the Nike EYBL. In the 16 games he played in, he averaged 7.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, .7 assists and .6 steals per game. He scored those points on 47.1-percent shooting from the field and 31.1-percent shooting from the three-point arc.

and:

I think Griffin’s shooting is solid. His driving ability is probably the most eye-popping thing about his game. He can get to the rim and has a nice big body to be able to take contact. The framework is there for a Derrick Rose or Russell Westbrook type of player. Both of those players aren’t great shooters. but they are great scorers. That is what I see with Griffin.

He can shoot and is quick enough to play defense. Maybe his growth plates are still open. If not he isn't our critical solution.

Wow. I don't think the folks at "Writing Illini" are watching the same player. Griffin is not a great athlete. He's extremely long and has a nice shooting stroke. Driving to the hoop will not be his strength at this level because he really doesn't elevate around the rim. To compare him to Rose or Westbrook is complete nonsense.

Plus the scorer/shooter vs the shooter/scorer debate is quite a spin. Guess we'll have to wait and see what Griffin does when he's in an Illini uniform to sort that out!

No one wants to win more than Underwood and his staff. No one has more skin in the game than this group.
Why would anyone think they would bring any young man to this University that could not help them achieve their goal of a Big10 championship.

Antigua's talent evaluation continues to disappoint me.

For being such an "elite" recruiter these are not the kind of guys I am expecting from our top assistant.

I got to say, I don't think Antigua gets the credit he deserves. Let us keep it in the real, Illinois is not Kentucky. To think he was going to pull that kind of a** here is "Missouri fan" thinking. But look at the major improvement to Black's game from last year. I am assuming Antigua's coaching has something to do with that.
