"Head missed a three with 17 seconds left that would have tied it, we fouled, they hit 2 free throws and the game was over."

This is correct. We had a shot to tie then UNC grabbed a rebound and iced it with 2 FTs - i was at the game and had began the process of walking from my nosebleed seats towards the court because if we had won - i wanted to be as close as possible. Just not meant to be because - like mentioned - Augie couldn't get close enough to breathe on Sean May without a foul being called.

And about 3 players were academically eligible for UNC (insert sarcasm here)

Just 3?

That Bondereaux (Sp?) who is a grad transfer with two years left has re-openned his recruitment now that Mack left Xavier. We were in his last 3 or 4.

If playing time was a major concern since Black/Finke were here when he commited to X, then I could see us jumping to number one. Though if he follows Mack I wouldn't be all surprised.

Still think we are in trouble without an experienced big to take Black's place. Ebo can cover the 5 but unless Matic improves dramatically we are trusting freshman to defend and score. Believe Kane can cover the defense but it will be difficult to have 2 nonshooting bigs.
Kipper, I believe, can cover some of that scoring loss and basically played the same position. He needs more consistency for sure, but he isn't that far removed from being able to do that.

Couple = two

That is distinctly not the same as the football program, though. That's certainly more than a two-year fix. So, either you are being pedantic so as to not technically be wrong based on the definition of "couple", or else you are not paying attention to Illinois football.

Is Louisville eligible for post season play? Has all that type of thing been determined or is getting rid of Pitino the end of things wth Louisville and the NCAA? I assume they are eligible.

This Yahoo article from today sheds a little light on the current situation, and the possibility for punishment in regards to the FBI stuff. (A punishment was already handed down for the sex scandal)

Just saying both programs have to go through a rebuild. Should't take as long for bball. Hence a couple of years. I try mightily not to be pedantic.

Decent article that puts the facts on the table. Yes, Mack is taking risk and getting paid millions to take the risk (Louisville is also taking a risk on Mack given his situation as well).

But will recruits take the same risk with no money to be gained?

If it was my son, I would point them in a different direction until the stink clears, which may take several years.
