NPOY, unanimous First Team All American....maybe another B1G Champ and FF run.....it's doing wonders for Ayo's draft stock. First round guaranteed contract.
Any players you can think of next year who would challenge Kofi for NPOY?

An improved jump shot is doing wonders for Ayos draft stock. The nba doesn't care about college accolades, they care about size, athleticism, and skill.

If Kofi leaves, the defensive system will see another dramatic change. Still have huge opposing centers in Dickinson and others and will need to take some of OSU’s methods into system. Have reasonable height left but not Kofi bulk.

If I was a betting man I'd bet he's back.
I just think a lot depends on how we end this tourney run. If we win a NC the possibilities for these guys change because they played some great ball with all the eyes on them. Plenty of time to debate it all after cutting down the nets!! 😁

You understand the improved jump shot is what helped him get the accolades...right?

I hate to say it , but Dickinson from scUM seems to be a national press sponsored hero
This is not the NPOY you're looking for...

Kofi leaving is far from a done deal.
Agreed. If we go deep in the tourney, Kofi would be the toast of college basketball in 21-22. Pre season accolades, front runner for NPOY, and a darling of the sports pundits. Not to mention his draft stock. Which will rise substantially, which translates to cash.

I can’t see Frazier or Damonte coming back.
Thought any rumors of that were squashed at Senior night. I would think if Illinois makes a deep run that they would capitalize on that and try to play professionally. If, and I say if because as much as I want them to go all the way, this is the NCAA tournament and one bad game and anyone can get knocked out. Illinois included. That being said IF they get to the final four Kofi is all but gone. What I would hope is With the success of his former two teammates (Ayo and Ace) that Burnett commits and he will be a one and done. Not sure how they fill the void left by Kofi. My guess would be a transfer. Add Hutchinson in the mix along with the incoming class and those who will remain. We would be an easy Top Ten preseason selection. A big win today and a deep run will do wonders for in state recruiting for some time moving forward.
Got to give A TON Of credit to Ayo and his family!
They have been unbelievable ambassadors for the program and getting Illinois back to a perennial contender. Ayo and Kofi need their jerseys hanging from the ceiling of the Assembly Hall (State Farm Center). Let’s get it done today and keep that momentum going!!!!!!
Go Illini!!!!!!!🔷🔶🔹🔸🔷🔶🔹🔸
They are not coming back in MHO but they will be remembered as great Illini.

Hearing Illinois has interest in a Big man from DR in transfer portal. New Mexico freshman. Must not want to play for Pitino.
We recruited Valdir Manuel out of high school. Believe we were there to see him when we found Giorgi.

Well-Tough game today obv. But we will have some very good classes coming up and coming in. Trent and Monte could be back next year. I expect Kofi to be back but we will see. Expect some commitments soon

I just don't see how his game translates to the NBA. He gets a lot of attention because of how he dominates college players with his size, but I'm not sure there is a place in the current NBA for a guy whose range is about 4 feet. What is the best case scenario for him right now - 2nd round pick and some time in the D-League? It sure seems like he could benefit from one more year in college to work on the other parts of his game that will be needed for the next level.

Makes no sense for any of the seniors to be back... but we will see.
I am in agreement. We need to move on and get younger and more athletic. Trent, if he is coming back need to work on his 3pt shooting. We need him to be a 40+% shooter. Miller and Belo played the best today and that is a good thing for the future.

Trent isn't coming back although he may not be done in college.

Trent taking another year at a different school would be a dagger for me. Dude is an Illini through and through.

Would understand if he wanted one more ride at a program in Florida or something. Maybe UF or FSU?
