I'll take a 3 star team player that has bb iq, over any 5 star look at meme ,1 and done, any day of the week. The team player will give more than you ever get from 1and done.:illinois:

We should expect to see something happen soon with at least 2 more commitments, we have a good recruiting staff.
My hope is 1 more 2017, if we can find someone, finding 2 at this point seems like a stretch, 2 grad transfers, 1 unfilled.

2017 big has to be a priority, but it is getting late to feel good about this.

5th year transfers are basically free money at this point, Alstork or another wing that can score & a big for depth would be ideal, realizing that these preserve the schollie for 2018 recruits

My guess is 4th stays open at this point, fish for a potential impact mid year transfer or save it for a third 2018.

So apparently the rumor among Mizzou fans now is that Walker improperly recruited Tilmon, and Mizzou found out about and has turned Walker into the NCAA. And that they won't accept a recruitment from him until they know the repercussions.

Good to know that our fanbase isn't the only that will throw around the "improper recruiting" card as soon as a recruitment doesn't go our way.

That's some A+ projection there, Mizzou fans.

Could that be why Tilmon didnt make a move, got a heads up about Heirman to Depaul, and others, and was asked to wait? Recruiting is so crazy....

Now Mizzou is going to have to report DePaul for malfeasance. So many reports, so little time

Hmmm. DePaul gets a 5-star commit before we do with their assistants on the job a matter of days. Yeah.

Don't get me wrong, I REALLY like Mark Smith, but when is our turn going to come.....starting to wonder if it ever will. Have to keep holding out hope.

Tyger Campbell isn't a 5 star PG prospect. I'll day Mark Smith all day, every day.

Love Campbell as a player. He'll be a 4-year contributor for DePaul, but that ranking is ridiculous.

Campbell is overrated, imo. He is not as good as Smith. Plus DePaul obviously hired his high school coach to get him.

I agree , and if he jumps up a class no way he is still a 5 star, he isn't close to Ayo in talent

yeah that's why he left LaLu when they were going to have a chance to win the Nat Champ, and they did without him. People are just reaching for any reason they can that JT hasn't signed some place

Yeah we are totally the dirtiest program out there. That's why we've been able to get 5* after 5*. Oh wait...

Based on BU's style of play and his own character, this surprises me not at all. If your system was a lot of isolation, maybe you don't need team players with high buy in and commitment. From what I can tell, BU is the total opposite. He really capitalizes on guys buying in and committing to the system. Gonna require a high motor, selfless play, high bbIQ, and good character. It only takes one player to really mess up a system that relies on well oiled team play and trust.

Can we stop doing this thing where attack the character of teenagers who don't choose to play basketball at UI and praise the kids that choose us as having more character and morals. This is the biggest decision of their life up to this point. This is doubly true for Tilmon because he has his eyes on making it to the NBA.

I'm sure no other recruits are hoping to make it into the NBA. We should cherish Tilmon for his disloyalty and ambiguous recruitment because he has his eyes on making it to the NBA.

I'm sure there is some place in the middle of trashing and cherishing we can land and not look like completely unhinged lunatics

We don't have to put others down to build ourselves up. I wanted DJW to succeed here - and I hope that he is successful in whatever path he chooses to take. At the end of the day, things didn't go the way we all wanted them to go, so I hope he finds what he is looking for as I appreciate the time and energy he spent representing our university. DJW is doing what he thinks is right for himself, and as long as he does not treat UI with disrespect, there's no reason for us to disrespect him.

For the most part, the same goes for JT. The recommit and then decommit are tough for us to swallow, but at this point, he hasn't disparaged UI, so we should show him the same respect.

Sorry about the lecture. We should make fun of each other as much as we want (respectfully!!), but we should also remember that these are kids, and as long as they don't act classless or malicious towards UI, they deserve the same courtesy back.

I still haven't seen anything on O.Toppin , recruit from NY prep. Any information on his status? Just curious?

Tilmon has done nothing wrong in his recruitment. It is a tough decision especially with the coaching change involved. He and the family in all truthfulness have been largely quiet through his asking out of his letter of intent and where he will go next year. Any high school player has the right to choose the school and coach that they believe fits them the best. We shouldn't bash someone just because Illinois may end up not being their choice

Alot of things involving the Tilmon recruitment have raised alot of emotions. Hopefully we can be positive now our course is set and we have our new leadership, recruits committed, and the ones to come. JT is in his place atm, no one of us has a clue what is going on. For his sake hope he makes his choice, and whichever one it is, we can let him know he made a good one, and good luck. IMO hoping he chooses:chief:

No one did. The angst is based on the back and forth. If he wouldn't have reaffirmed his commitment after the coaching hire no one would really make a fuss.

That being said all signs point to a family struggle with an immature kid stuck in the middle.

Mark Smith is 150% the player that Tyger is. I'm we got who we got (even tho they are different classes).

Not sure you can say immature. Dad is pulling left while mom is pulling right. Horrible place to be at 18, no matter how mature. I feel for the kid. DePaul may be a great spot for him.
