I'd be willing to say that Tilmon is closer with coach Walker than he is coach Heirman

IDK- I have given up on trying to figure out Tilmon- if he was so close with Heirman why did he leave LL?

When he left LaLu, he said it was to move closer to his mom. I think that's a reason, but not the real one. Him leaving LaLu really changed things.

I dont disagree, but how do we get DePaul when one parent wants Mizzou, one Illinois?
Maybe the least bad option for him to not appear like he is choosing one parent over the other. I didn't really think the DePaul thing had legs, but now you have me thinking maybe it does.
That's my point, I'd say he was closer with coach Walker.
Walker & Groce wanted him to stay at LaLu for his senior season, so this isn't great supporting evidence that the Walker relationship is stronger than the Heirman relationship.

There is not a whole lot of evidence suggesting he is close with anyone besides his parents, at least that is a close enough relationship to follow them to college. But committing to go to a university is much bigger than a high school, and he did commit to us. And if he wasn't willing to stay at LL, I would he think then not only will he have known Walker longer but also talked with coach Walker for a longer period of time and much more often throughout these last few years.

Maybe Walker and Groce knew coming back to ESL would get his father involved too much, and they wanted to keep him away from him.

Tilmon needs to go where he's the most comfortable. Hope it's :chief:

If not, good luck in all your future endeavors Jeremiah!

We didn't get a visit from Minaya and he just visited SC. Pretty sure he is going to SC.

If Minaya goes SC...Wouldn't this increase our chances with Alstork?

With such a good group of players coming in would Alstork be a good fit for a rebuilding program. The team underachieved and you reward him with a Big 10 offer when he's not better than what you already have in place. Black/Kipper/Coleman/ are all just as good and have a good chemistry..adding Smith/Williams/Frazier makes for a good mix of re-building.

I've been looking at Alstork the same way. There was some mention of chemistry issues as well. I'm all in on Agau, not so much Alstork.

We lack a go to scorer, Alstork could fill that role. He shot better from 3 last year than JCL and took nearly 200 more free throws.

I think re-building program with quality freshman is key to put players in place that can become key leaders if they have that mentality. He lead the team in scoring but shot the ball 95% of the time even when double teamed and never looked for teammates.....Id think a quality big transfer is the move .... they will only be there one yr...Alstork is not the help they need....

He was in a system that needed a true leader, he was a Jr. and his way of leading and his example was too shoot the ball every time down court...and the team go .500

Adding Mark Smith's passing and court vision will help JCL's shooting percentage go up dramatically....

Wright State was 8 games over .500

I'm going to trust Underwood knows what he is doing. Not to mention Frank Martin and Pitino want the guy too.

Sorry i missed that part that didnt win the conference.

There are a ton of coaches that know what they are doing..... doesn't make it a good chemistry for the team....Louville, S.C, are all well established program and Illini is on the re-building and just want BU and the "re-building Illini" to get back to the powerhouse program just adding him for 1 yr "might not be a good look" they need a big to free up Finke/Black/Kipper from having to battle with true bigs throughout the season. Finke will be much more effective if he doesn't have to guard 7 fters night in and night out for the entire season....

I'm sure no other recruits are hoping to make it into the NBA. We should cherish Tilmon for his disloyalty and ambiguous recruitment because he has his eyes on making it to the NBA.

Disloyalty and ambiguity? What? He committed to a situation that looks vastly different than it does right now. He committed to John Groce and his vision. That is no longer the situation here. He has every right to reevaluate his circumstances and make the best decision for him. That's a logical thing to do and he certainly doesn't deserve to be trashed for doing so. He also doesn't owe you or anyone else updates on his recruitment.

Literally the only thing about Tilmon that rubbed me the wrong way was retweeting his Illinois commitment right before choosing to opt out of the LOI. He's been within his right every step of the way and I certainly can't find fault with him choosing to look at other programs.

I just don't like the whiplash of comforting Illinois fans just to reopen shortly thereafter.
