As long as Bowen doesn't go Michigan, it be good, we will get top ten recruits soon. When you win, it happens.:thumb:

Shaka has shown here that it isn't always JUST about winning. He went 11-22 last year and is a whopping 31-35 as the Texas HC so far.

Sometimes you just have to be a good recruiter and that means something different for every player/coach/school/situation. (But winning helps I'm sure :thumb: )

Also, here is another instance of the crystal balls being wrong if you simply look at the percentages (48% UK, 24% Duke, 24% Texas). However, if you analyze it further and look for trends based on possible commitment dates or near a signing period, you can see Texas was making waves.

For as polarizing as the CBs can be for a crazed fan base, they can be a really good tool.

The big situation for BU looks more and more like the PG situation for JG.

And the guard situation looks more and more like JG's wing situation

Except for Groce the issue lasted 5 years and BU has been on the job less than 3 months and came on the scene after most recruits were already committed.

I also think BU can adapt gameplans for personnel. He beat WVU when he was at SFU with tallest starter at 6 7". His Xs and Os and adaptibility is a strength...and we havent seen that in awhile.

I can't believe a Groce comparison was already made. Give that man a ban

It does look similar. The big difference is that JG built his problematic situation over 5 years, and BU sort of walked into his. BU was is in a tough spot this recruiting cycle because there weren't a lot of uncommitted P5 caliber bigs left when he became our coach. We'll see what he's able to do with the next recruiting cycle.

I can't wait for the argument whether TF and DMW are Groce's commits or Underwood's. Let the debate begin. :D

Throw in Smith on recruiting since Groce did start with him.

You can make a case for TF and DMW but Smith is Underwood's. The recruitment was wide open when he took over and he won it.

I put this in the transfer thread but it probably belongs over here. Tunisian Forward (2017) Wassef Methnani visited Louisville but it sounds like they aren't adding anybody else to the 2017 class. For some reason only Louisville and Fairfield have been involved. We could certainly use somebody with is size and skill.

Reminded me of Richard Keene, only looked like he didn't mind going inside. I like what I saw a lot though, strange no one has offered him I agree

They are all BU's no question or debate to it, if not the would done like Pickett and JT. Its the same when Walker, or Chin or OA finds a kid, Groce might of got them interested but BU got them to be here for 2017

Thank you and the debate has begun. I definitely say Smith is a BU commit. Not sure on the other 2 since they just stayed committed. Glad to have all 3.

DMW was coming to UI the whole time almost no matter who was the coach. Smith was brought in by Underwood, but you can still argue Frazier. Without Groce he most likely never would have even been involved with illini. If Groce hadn't gotten his commitment do you think he would be committed now?

You are Right Groce's staff found Trent, and got him interested, BUT they are gone and he is still here, so he is here and BU is going to be his coach , so he is a BU commit.

I think people typically think of a player being a "commit" of the coach who was at the school when he committed. By that logic, he's a Groce commit.

I think the cheerleader deserves the credit for TF.

Seeing how BU adapts to the B1G and how the league AND its officials adapts to him may be quite interesting next season. How is he with the refs, does anyone know, i.e., a scale between Mr. Congenial and Bobby Knight.

Without having done any research whatsoever, I sincerely doubt he is of the "Mr. Congenial" type. Look at his pedigree.

I actually like how Groce handled referees for the most part. I can think of a few times where he drew a tactical technical foul to make a point, and it worked.

And I can think of a lot of times he should have and didn't.

Wow, this is what the recruiting thread has become? There really isn't anything to talk about.
