There was never anything going with Sims. Someone threw the name out on a premium board when there was word that the staff was looking at a big. Then a so-called Swami who takes all his material from premium boards posted it on twitter and tried to act like he had sources for it.

I seem to recall a blurb in the Chin interview that he had called BU when he was at UIC to start implementing his system. So if Chin was recruiting him, he may be a good fit system-wise.

Exactly! BU wants his bigs to be athletic, hops, good feet, high motor, who can run the floor. We have offers to '18 bigs with similar traits, who are under the radar (Udeze, Sow)

I mentioned sims yesterday. I heard his name mentioned as a possibility... but this former uic commit looks to be coming.

Sims is not leaving UT.

I think you take Eboigbodin if you can get him, let OA work with him and see what you can get, would excel in the offense I think.

Also, I think you put the full court press on MiKyle McIntosh. He is visiting Oregon this week, and a few others soon, but we do have a good shot I believe. He wants to boost his draft stock and he would come in and start right away. Will be interesting to watch, and that would leave us with 3 scholarships for 2018.

This kid (Eboigbodin) may turn out a decent player, hard to know, but right now it is hard to make any parallelism with the players mentioned, even as HS seniors at the same stage.

Ok how about this parallelism then, BU and staff wanted Mark Smith, BU and staff didn't want Pickett, So if BU and staff want this kid then that's good enough for me

I agree 1000% A freshman for the future & a big for the upcoming year!

Sims' high school coach tweeted that he will be reporting to Austin in two weeks. Nothing to see here.

Just went back 3 weeks on his twitter and he tweeted nothing like that, unless it has been taken down...

He did comment the hook 'em emoji though on a tweet about Texas' schedule

Feel free to double check anyone (@CoachClayCRJ)

Greg Emboigen?? looks to have slow feet and not overly athletic, listed at 6-9 but looks more like 6-7 at best. At this point do we take him as a project or practice player? Much more impressed by the recent grad transfers, especially the Spanish player going to Wichita State. Any news on Evan Maxwell from Liberty/KU fame? Not going to give up on staff, still have Jun-Aug.

*** Must of seen the 2015-16 highlight reel, the other highlight video looks more impressive and athletic.

Emboigen will be announced soon from what I have heard. He is on board, and it should be official soon. Only other player that would potentially be on the roster for next season would be McIntosh.

Actual game footage and 3:55 is a good sign, quick up and down floor.

Ike Eke his teammate is listed slightly smaller at 6'9 and 215 vs 6'9 and 220...I think Gregory looks noticeably bigger than same height and 5 pounds in this video...we may have gotten the better of the two really if we get him...

http://thecatchandshoot.com/uic-commit-greg-eboigbodin-continues-his-rise-at-u-of-d-jesuit/, Way Betta post moves..Way betta...lol love it

http://widgets.boxxspring.com/MzAsNDMwMTc4MjE - he beats his teammate several times on post and drives in latter part of video

BOOM! Feed my ego.
For sure! Right now, a Mike Davis clone would be amazing.

No doubt. I remember the first smart/athletic play Mike Davis made when I realized he wasn't just a stiff. It was a clever put-back he had to contort his body to convert. That's when I knew he could actually play. As much as I have and still do criticize Weber and that staff for their failings, that was a pretty good find by them.

Chill dude, you are taking this way too seriously.

On the contrary, I am actually taking this way too lightly, putting Eboigbodin in the same sentence and making a parallelism to Hakeem, Amare, Kanter, and Embiid is quite laughable.

Not a smart parallelism either, who you want and who you can get at this point are not the same thing. Eboigbodin may become a decent player and at this point is a welcome addition but he has absolutely nothing to do with Mark Smith.

Rankings don't always matter. Maverick was a top 150 prospect out of high school and it took him 4 years to find his game, and was still a bad defender and an average at best center who averaged double figures on a mediocre/unathletic team. What Ebo brings to the table is a long, athletic guy who can shot block, run the floor and actually isn't a bad ball handler of what I've seen. Like it or not, that's what we need right now. I see a lot of potential in him..and we need at least 10-15 minutes from another big somehow. Land one more somewhere and I think we'll be okay.

The reading comprehension is all that's laughable 'round here. I am not the one parallelism-ing anything, that would be you, Obelix. In addition I never used them in the same sentence, I just checked to make sure I wasn't misremembering. Someone did it right up there ^^^ though. :p Henceforth, this will be a one-sided conversation. Buenas noches fellow Illini fan. :thumb:

I think you forgot to mention Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Patrick Ewing in your original post :D

I would not downplay Maverick's performance during his career compared to his ranking (I would not overplay it either). I think Mav's ranking and performance were pretty aligned, I would actually venture to say that Mav, overall, probably outplayed his ranking primarily due to his junior/senior years.

I'll give you that, he did show great improvements. For whatever reason I thought he was nearly a top 100 out of high school but was ranked as a 78 grade on ESPN. Either way, glad to have a guy like Ebo who is athletic and has potential to make big strides. When was the last time we had a long athletic big?
