Looks like he can run, is patient downlow, and has great hands, would be a big get, then we can focus on wings/guards for 2018. Also gives us a LOT of help downlow this year because this kid looks like he can play 6-10 a game if needed, Greg can play 5-8 when needed and allows us to play KN/LB/MF together more.

Even if we land him I would still love to get a commit from big George in 2018, we would be setting nice with 3 bigs who are multi dimensional, then get EJ or Okoro, hopefully both in 19, and keep getting big talented wing/guard types we would be rocking

BU system appears to suit the euro style big men well (pass, shoot, dribble drive). One thing that appears certain is that there will be a large player turnover from Groce last team. Partly from graduation and the other from transferring.

Can you expand on your statement my Cherrios decoder ring hasn't arrived yet. Will it open the Slovak AAU market to Illinois?
Guessing in at least these two ways:

1. As stated above, a fourth Big for our 2017-18 roster (MF, LB, GO, MV), giving Underwood much more flexibility with his Finke/Black minutes
2. A big "get" for the coaching staff at this late stage in the recruiting process

BTW, I love Vesel's speed and athleticism. He finishes well at the rim. However, I think I saw him take just one shot outside of 2-3 feet from the basket.

Go ILLINI!

I'm glad that he isn't taking a slow approach to re-working the roster to fit his style of play.

Vesel is a project big in the vein of Morgan.

I'd take him.

I can see what you're saying but to be clear, he is in no way a similar player to Mav. Vesel can handle the ball, can jump higher than a phone book and is a bit shorter. But clearly a different type of big and absolutely a better athlete. See for yourself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iY_1Hgm_Pv0

I agree that I hope he comes on board. It could give us less stress about a big in 2018 and leaves (a however improbable) possibility that Ayo, THT and Finke all come, which would be cool imo.

That's what's great about forums like this. A mix of youngsters with little to no understanding of history and old people (like me) who can't forget it.

Forums should have a LIKE button. I guess we oldsters will just have to educate the young 'uns.

He looks like a glass cleaner, can get up and down the floor, and even put the ball on the floor from the high post. Any word on what other schools are recruiting this guy?

Was at the parent-child camp over the weekend; I was curious who that guy was. Turns out it was Vesel.

Comments like this are so stupid.

Yes, if all of the best players from Illinois go out of state then Illinois will not be "elite."

However, when Illinois has gotten the best players from the state (Flyin' Illini and 2001-2006 to name two times) they were elite and they put players in the NBA.

There is NO reason that the Fighting Illini can't compete with any program in the country.

There isn't any reason, but unlike the Duke's and Kentucky's of the BB world, we aren't going to walk into a top 25 kid's house and instantly command the same kind of power as those school's just because we are within a 150 mile radius.

I don't think Ayo comes here, our backcourt is actually well stocked. Lets see if Chin can really recruit Chicago.

I agree I see nothing Mav like about him, does need to fill out some, but can do the things we are needing , run, dribble(for his size), rebound and DUNK.

As far as 2018 we would still be after a big, and need to get one. As far as Ayo THT and Finke we will be lucky to get 1 of the 3, and I do not think Finke and THT would both come here but who knows. I do think the 2018 class will start to take shape mid summer

The big thing about our new recruits, is the hope that they don't get intimated once you're in the B1G games. This is where our 4 core returnees, need to step up and be leading, most important thing that the staff can relay to upperclassmen. Get the new guys feet wet and let it flow.:illinois:

I think this is where getting Mark Alstork really helps as well, he adds a scorer for sure, but he should give us leadership as well.

BU has a track record of rapidly integrating his system and instilling confidence from players to execute at SFA and OSU. Players having an edge, knowledge and confidence in the system and superior motor will likely excel.

Ill be curious on conditioning reports..., the guys that can sprint for the longest period nonstop may end up getting the starts:)

In that regard my money is on Kipper and TJL all day long, those two play with ENERGY that I'm sure is a reflection of their approach to conditioning

Wow. Reminds me of Toni Kukoc. Go get him, Coach. :illinois: -L-L

Toni Kukoc might be the last player he reminds me of. Toni was a tall perimeter player who was a great shooter, dribbler and play maker. All I saw from this video is strictly a post player with decent hands and patience which is fine for what we need but a far cry from the Waiter.
