I think he is a Mizzou commit, unofficially. Just waiting to see where Knox commits. Once that happens, a domino effect will take place. Mizzou will either crean an existing player to make room for Tilmon & Knox or Tilmon will take the last spot if Knox chooses another program.

It just doesn't make sense that he decommits from us, starts playing the recruiting game, and then abruptly stops visits and drops off the face of the earth. Maybe some of the delay is PR - driven, given the tampering accusations of a committed player of a rival and fresh concerns of more NCAA scrutiny via the academic scandal. Whatever the case may be, it appears to me that Tilmon might already know where he is going. He is simply just waiting for all of the cards to be played out and the roster finalized before he makes it official. ?

in both of your scenarios, JT commits to mizzou. why would he wait to see what knox does?

Brothers and Sisters...you all are wasting way too much time on whether JT commits or why he hasn't committed yet...In all frankness JT is good but I do not see him fitting into Underwood's system at all...as Coach Antigua explained they are looking for athletic big men who can put the ball on the floor and have mobility...JT is not that type of player...he may be a rim protector but plays with his back to the basket and seems more suited for a more methodical half court offense...yes he is tall but not extremely quick and needs to hit the weights...I was very surprised when I saw smaller opponents push him off the block...could he develop into a better than just good player...absolutely...but at this point he is not a game changer...AND his heart is not orange and blue...time to move on and let the coaching staff do its thing

They would take him back in a heartbeat. He is definitely a game changer, and top 10 bigs just don't come along every day for a program.

Is there any real hope that we get a commit from any of the recruits before our "Official Visit" next week?

Everyone's guessing. But I would counter with the fact that he hasn't committed, and he struggled to commit the first time around. My guess is he's still legitimately in play. If the enormous opportunity for PT, Smith, and the staff aren't able to get him here, than so be it.

Someone said we'll know when he enrolls on a campus. Wouldn't surprise me at this point.

I don't Tilmon or Martin are worried one bit about tampering, that seems to be a myth created here. Speculation by jilted Prom dates is way different than anything that can be proven.

The allegations really need to stop. It's not really relevant to landing a recruit, and even if something happened, there's zero redress available. What little the NCAA does takes them years to figure out.

Complete and utter BS. He's an athletic big and would be a fantastic addition.
X2. He is not a monster athlete but he is athletic compared to other 6'10" players. He is not just a low post player although he has a good post-up game. I think In a running offense like UI will employ you would see his athleticism.

Guess I'm gonna have to do this again. He is athletic enough that Kansas and UNC were interested in him. Those fast paced systems require a rim running big man who can put pressure on the rim in transition. If Roy/Self think he can do it for them, I'm pretty sure he can play a similar role in transition for us.

In the halfcourt, Tilmon would be asked to do the following things:

1) Set screens for cutters. I'm 100% sure he can do that.
2) Play pick/handoff and roll. Since he was originally recruited for a pick and roll system, I'm pretty sure he can do that, not to mention being a pick and roll player as a big man is required in any offense, so he's gonna do it anyway, no matter where he goes.
3) Post up after the pick/handoff and roll. He's a back to the basket guy right? If he's not open on the initial post, when the ball is reversed one spot to the slot, repost for a high-low look. If he plays with his back to the basket as you say, he will have multiple opportunities per ball reversal to do this. BU wants 3-4 reversals per possession, which gives him 6-8 post up opportunities per possession from the flow of the continuity.
4) Shoot the elbow J. Can he do it? Maybe not as effectively as desired right now, but he can develop it.
5) Make a game move (pump fake, jab, sikma) and score off one dribble from the high post. Another aspect of his game he could develop over time.

He would never really need to play the perimeter spots because we have a plethora of guards. But I'm sure that part of his game will develop under BU anyway, because he wants versatile guys.

Is he the most ideal fit in the world right now? No. But I really don't know that any big man comes out of HS with the ability to do all 5 of those things at the D1 level immediately. Does he fit at the base level, provide us with a 6"10 guy, give us somebody on the back end of a pressure defense who can alter/block shots? Yes. Would we take him? Yes. End of story? Yes.

He fits.

Great analysis FiveStar. HE is a talented big and even if he is not a perfect fit we would not hesitate to take him. There are opportunities within the offense and I am sure coach would design additional opportunities. This past year at OSU he realized the Evans was the meal ticket and tweaked the offense to get him more looks. We have a smart coach who will design things to get the most our of the talent he has so you take all the talent you can get.

Precisely! Let's not forget he has great hands and can actually catch the ball in traffic. Personally, I'm still really haunted by Egwu hands.

But I dream of his defense, especially since we are so desperate for a rim protecting big man right now.
