Wow, Mizzou with a pretty blatant shot at us in their Tilmon commitment graphic. State of Illinois and Missouri with a tiger image overlayed. Game on Miznoz.

Hopefully, our coaches land someone that makes us forget all about Tilmon. You can role model all you want; we'll see how things pan out down there.

So now that it's all over.

What was the reason for the the re-commitment on social media and then two days later, he asked for his LOI? What happened in those two days?

Looking forward to squashing them.

I think we need to worry more about filling out our roster than Missouri right now. There was a gap in talent when Porter committed, now there is a real talent gap with Tilmon and if the younger Porter reclassifies...I will probably not watch the game this year. Now, when all three go pro after next year(Tilmon because I think it's in his dad's mind that he's one and done), then we'll be back to square one.

I'm more interested in these four remaining scholarships and how we're going to compete in the paint than Missouri right now. This Tilmon thing was a done deal a month and a half ago. He, smartly, let the air clear, the emotions clear...then committed. Like one poster said, meh.

If he would of checked out of his NLI when the coaching change took place, my response would of been: "Good luck I wish you well." Since he played the Illini while likely having 2nd party contact with Missouri and Martin, I can't say that anymore. All I can say now is: "Live with your decision." I think he actually made the right choice, because Martin is a sleazy character and Tillman will be able to expand his unethical conduct under Martin's mentorship. In closing, I'd just like to say, I'm glad the Illini did not attempt to hire Martin.

Thank you God. Now we can focus on UI. Still nothing from JT, officially posted.
The replies to that would be pretty hideous. Hope for his sake and Illini reputation he doesn't tweet anything.

Not meh - huge loss for what is Illinois's biggest need. Top rated big men are hard to get and Illinois spent years recruiting Tilmon. Illinois dangerously thin with big men next season.

I think he said it was "meh" because this was a done deal a month + ago. It was just a matter of waiting for it to become firm.

Illinois is not just dangerously thin, we're flat out void of players who can compete in the paint on either end. Maybe Black is equipped to play physical, but outside of that...it's bleak. This team is undersized even by MAC or MVC standards.

We knew that there was a good chance when we let John Groce go that there would be decomits. I am very happy with the new coach and the recruiting class. One or two transfers will be icing on the cake.

I like TF/DMW/MS better than TF/DMW/JP/JT anyway, especially with JT going to a school we only play once a year, and don't compete B1G standing with.

I was on the Groce train until the end, I didn't expect TF and DMW to be here - let alone Smith.

All true but seriously there are people on here acting like there was some likelihood that he was going to re-commit. Why anyone would allow themselves to be punched below the belt a second time is ridiculous. At some point even if there is a positional need, you gotta stop and move on. There are a ton of Charlie Browns on this board that have been returning to try to kick the proverbial Tilmon football.
