I would. I certainly understand that Dee loves his school. But I certainly wouldn't put it past Self to be maintaining relationships with a specific purpose. In the event that Jerrance leaves for a head job at some point, there will need to be an Illinois/Chicago area recruiting connection. And if you were Dee, wouldn't it be tough to say no thanks particularly when it doesn't seem like there would be a similar opportunity at Illinois (though I still have no idea why he left/was asked to leave). Although I understand that Dee is becomingly increasingly influential in the AAU area of Chicago which can prove to be quite lucrative and full of power/influence. Self is just being wise keeping a connection there that he can. It doesn't please me at all but I see what's going on there.

Spot on.:(

I agree. This could become a real problem. And if the timing isn't right to come back here yet you can't blame Self for taking advantage or Dee for listening.

So, it seems like there are a ton of names going around for the 2018 class. So, with only 3 open scollies as of now...what's our ideal class?

Dream- Ayo,Bazley,De Sousa

Most likely: Ayo/THT/Conditt

That leaves...Finke, Stewart,Days,Castleton on who I'd be happy with as well..

Personally with Frazier, Lucas, Smith, Williams and Jordan..I think even if we swing and miss on Ayo, we need to focus on wings/bigs. Need 2 guys 6"5+, and 1 big would make the most sense to me.

You really think Ayo is likely? I'm pretty skeptical on that. I do think we are ONE of his favorites, but he will be very tough to land.

Land THT, and win some games this year, there's no reason why we shouldn't feel good about him. We have to start keeping our in-state guys, and BU and staff are the guys to do it. Have some faith!

These guys likely commit before the season starts FYI

I'm all for faith in the staff though. This isn't groce and friends

AYO has to be thinking which coach will get him to the NBA. He is a top 20 player who can project as a long PG. Favorite school and best friends will be 2nd tier to NBA dream, IMHO.

I like him. He's thinner at the same age, but he's got a little Meyers Leonard in him. :shield:

oooo baby I like what I see. Skinny yes but good size and mobility, willingness to bang down low, shows some good range on his jumper, athletic above the rim, and some good ball handling skills.

Definitely like what I see more than Conditt as far as a true C.
This isn't the first time I recall seeing Castleton's name around here. Didn't Groce or someone on his staff evaluate him before?

This kid's film looks great. Yes he is skinny but he plays above the rim, is athletic and isn't afraid to throw it down. I would argue those are skills that aren't easier to teach and throwing some weight on the frame with Fletch should be low hanging fruit.

I am on board with this kid
