I'm OK with this recruiting class being done. I wouldn't mind them rolling the last two scholarships into next year for class balance. And by the way congratulations Mr. Tilmon! You round out an outstanding class!

This is great for all involved! At least from my point of view. Officially, welcome to the Illini Jeremiah Tilmon! Good luck this year and we look forward to your Illini career.

Is this the best and most rounded class we've had under Groce/Weber? *Obviously just based off projections

Go Illini

Glad he is here but this shows people need to grow up it does hurt these recruits feelings when bs is sent out about them
This.

I felt the Schmidt website was doing a real disservice to JT and to the image of Illinois fans as a whole with their panicked accusations.

Okay that dig at Goodwin was awesome. In gest but funny!

I do not think it was in gest by the look on his face when he said it and everyone else laughing and he didn't even smile. He was very serious about it when he said it.

Interesting things from the interview.

He said Goodwinn did reach out and ask if he was still committed to Illinois and he said he was.

Also, how he was mad people were accusing him of taking money from other programs.

A few thoughts:

1) Tilmon was dead serious when he said he's going to win the Mr. Basketball over Goodwin.
2) The assistant coaches do matter as he said Coach Walker made this happen and actually told him and not Groce about signing. He still had good things to say about Groce, but this does highlight the importance of Travis Ford getting an area coach.
3) MOB just posted an article on Verge and he said we were the only school mentioned in recruiting when asked and Verge's high school coach felt confident that Verge would qualify. However, I think Morgan Park said the same thing about MLV.
4) He mentioned Pickett as a PG. Perhaps he's better ball handler than we all assumed?

2017-18

Thought a month ago 2017-18 team would not be better than this year. Not so sure at this point. JT will be better defensively than MM, TJL will be better than TA, and the further improvement of MF, JCL, DW and the incoming fresh could be a powerhouse by tourney time.

A fifth year senior big would be nice, but it would be hard to say no to Epperson. If we land him, then I don't think we go after an immediately eligible guy if that happens. We really don't need to use both, but it's house money being used on the grad transfer. I just don't want to see any of our four years guys development being stalled by a one year guy with the young talent we have esp. a player like Epperson. A four or five seed in 17-18, and a Sweet 16 appearance with Final Four expectations in 18-19!

MLV did qualify. And is playing quite well too.
