Hard to stay positive with our program right now....

Right now, recruiting means nothing without wins. Groce needs to show that with a full compliment of players, he can be successful. Without that, I find it very hard to get excited about the new kids.

So, please put together a winning team JFG. I beg you.

Hey if Malcolm Hill averages 40 and 12, we should be fine. LOL :D

Trent Frazier excites me.
Damonte excites me.
Pickett excites me.
Tilmon does too! Hope we get him! :)

Can we stop with all the sky is falling nonsense until the team at least loses a game.... I get it they haven't looked particularly impressive. They still put the teams away and there was really no drama at the end of the games where they could have potentially lost. Winthrop will be the first test of this team followed by a very good WVU team. VCU, FSU, and NC St are the more important ones as they are hovering in that 30-40 Kenpom range that traditionally equates to a tournament team.

+1. This board makes me question the sanity of our fanbase.

I hope so too but I will believe it when I see it. Usually when something good is going to happen to Illinois, we all know ahead of time. I haven't seen any positive smoke that will happen as of yet. Just a lot of Hope.

Like a boss told me early in my sales career "Hope is not a Strategy"....:(

While I prefer that he signs with us, I think that not signing with anybody is the next best option. My biggest fear was that he was going to suddenly sign elsewhere during this period.

Well, sure. Signing elsewhere definitely means he's gone.

If he waits until the late signing period, we have time to strengthen his relationship with the Illinois staff and current signees, as well as counter whatever "theoretical" skullduggery that may be transpiring.

Just passing along what seems to be the current thinking, this is our best chance to land him.

I understand our lack of recent success and what that means for recruiting, but it still really upsets me that we have trouble out-recruiting the likes of VCU and SLU. For a program that was once as high up in the upper echelons of college basketball as ours was, this just makes me sad.

Only way i see JT signing by tomorrow is if Whitman gives him the green light hes gonna keep Groce on.

But personally I dont think he signs before tomorrow even if we bronze Groce a 10 ft statue. He obviously is having doubts bigger than Groces job security. I dont know the ins and outs of recuiting cans and cannots but if JT were to sign, and Groce was fired, whats the downside of JT just getting released from his LOI? Do schools not get to pursue recruits who have signed? If this was a Groce question it wouldnt have manifested itself into this situation. And I dont believe the rhetoric that a school like KU wont have a scholly open for a top 30 recruit come April--great programs make room for great players. My conclusion is that his heart says UI but his mind says elsewhere.

He did that months ago. Nothing has changed since then.

One of the more interesting decisions left in the Midwest. Ohio St, Mich St, Purdue, and Seton Hall remain involved

Is this insider info from a chicago doctor/DJ?

Pretty sure his source is Roy Schmidt. So we've got Roy saying DePaul or Purdue for Nojel and JG in ESL manana. Take it fwiw, I guess.

He'll be glad to DM you his sources if you ask or question where he's getting it from. Take it with a grain of salt, he hasn't been correct yet regarding Tilmon's holdout.
