TC quit trying so hard to get your post count to 10,000. You will never catch Kramer::D

Or me... or especially Dan. :thumb:

I hear once you get over 10,000 posts you get banned.

I actually wouldn't be opposed to Finke being on this team. If Underwood thinks he use him then take him.

Uh oh (to the bolded).

Agree about Finke. He's got the size and I believe in staff's ability to actually develop players. 6'7' guys with guard skills that grew up within minutes of campus don't exactly grow on trees. (and yes, right now I'm imagining a magical Finke Tree growing in the middle of the Quad :D)

Playing for Champaign Central this season, waiting for a committable offer?

Thank You.....I am originally from Central Illinois and know the boredom of HS there...was hoping he was keeping his nose clean....especially if the "injury news" is BS......Go ILLINI

Shooting motion does not look very good. Otherwise like what I see from the video.

That’s what I saw too. I tried slowing the video down some and it seems like he doesn’t fully extend his elbow. I’m not sure it matters considering Shawn Marion played for 10+ years in the NBA, Reggie Miller is regarded as one of the best shooters of all time, and UCLA just had a lottery pick who’s shooting form includes scratching his left ear with his right hand.

Just mentioning it. Won't worry too much. It's the problem of many HS kids. Ayo probably has a worse shooting motion but no one will pass on him for that.

No worries. I wasn’t trying to single you out. The rest of my post was more my own thoughts when I thought about “bad” or “unorthodox” shooting forms.

Says he is from Culver City, CA but played for Chandler High in AZ this past season? Um, that's right down the road from me basically. Might have to catch a game!

That's funny. I occasionally play pick up at Culver City HS. Either way, loyalty has both sites covered should we run into him. Insider info forthcoming.

The two of you go and one with an ILL on one side and another with INI on the other side of the gym and get him to commit...now that's insider stuff there!

I thought the same thing and as soon as I saw tape it looks like i shot like Demarcus Nelson from Duke.

I hated his shot and then i hated mine once i saw it

Looks like his elbow wings out to the side instead of pointing at the hoop. Physics would suggest he would be constantly off to the left, but clearly he had adapted to that.

The ball goes through the hoop, so go with it.

My thoughts are the same as I have with Ayo. That shot doesn't look right, but it goes in. Would trying to fix it and make it more textbook form actually negatively impact their fg%?

Yeah it's not a great shot, and his EYBL numbers back that up, albeit in a relatively isolated sample size. In 16 games on the main circuit, Jones was 31.2% (15/48) from behind the arc.

Good news? Shooting can improve quickly if given proper instruction. Plus, Illinois seems to already have a few good, young shooters on the wing, so they may not even need to rely on that development to happen.

Well, if you had to shoot every shot outside in St. Louis, no wonder it was only 31.2%. I'm guessing most of the games weren't in STL, so that means some of his shots were really long!

Dude screams Caris LeVert IMO. Long, skinny, smooth, and the jumper looks pretty similar too.

The first person I thought of was our old boy BP3. Might not be quite as athletic, but I see similarities with their movements and rhythms on the court. Hesitation steps, drives, lay up finishes, pull ups, etc. All pretty similar.

Are we going to have room on the team for Jones after Nolley changes his mind and comes to play with Ayo?
