It was Thursday afternoon on the Waddle and Silvy Show, ESPN 1000. I remember because I posted to the FBI investigation thread about the utter ridiculousness of what Dakich was saying. Makes sense now that he was trying to steer a recruit to his buddy at Michigan. It went beyond craziness, Dakich also claimed:

1. He knew how to win at the college level without cheating because he got Bowling Green into the top 30 on 3 separate occasions.
2. He was alarmed at the level of said kind of cheating at Indiana, and he refused to play ball with "bad influences" when he was HC, and it was for that reason that he was fired.
3. He strongly hinted that if he had played the cheating game, like everyone else, at Indiana he would have won a national championship.
4. The only reason he is out of coaching is because he garnered a reputation as a guy who refused to cheat, making himself unemployable within the current corrupt college basketball system.

Guy is unreal.

Thanks for that.

Naivety and Martyrdom must make his life really difficult.

Could also be because we got wind we were getting one of our other targets and told him he now longer has a spot available here.

Wouldn’t be so sure. Conditt still up in the air.

Evan Daniels just popped a CB for Conditt to ISU. That's just one reason I'm pretty sure we're going 0 for bigs this week.

Guys hopping on Castleton to UM to pick up points and as Dan posted, the guy who was just here for an OV, verballed to UConn.

Just listened to Piper on The Jeremy Werner Show. Piper doesn't feel that Illinois gets Castleton or Conditt.

Conditt is listed as warmer to Iowa State, Michigan is listed as Favorite for Casteleton in 24/7 website and Kevin Easley who was previously committed to VCU (decommitted) has an interest in Georgia State now?

Maybe a late run at Easley being close to home? Article states he could play a stretch 4 long term...so? Seems we are missing on all others as of now?

Gavin Bizeau, Indy Heat player, maybe we can get in on that kid?

Honestly, my hopes for Illinois basketball lie solely in changing the product, not in landing specific players to save the day. I want to get good recruits, but, as has been said ad nauseam, you have to win first. When we do, I will get my hopes up for recruiting success. Until then, I'm not going to let myself get upset with misses...too much of that with the previous staff, who desperately needed players, because they were not the coach Underwood is.

Funny how the players we get in on early get scooped up by a program that pushes and offers late in the process.

The players we get in late on, we are told that we didn't make them a priority or a that they had a longer relationship with another coach and that was the deciding factor.

How do you get off this ride?

Same, which is a bummer. But I will be more than fine with going 0-3 here if we get Nolley.

Same here. But it puts enormous pressure on the staff to nail down some quality bigs in the 2019 class.

Get Ayo and either Nolley or THT, and this class is a success. That has been my barometer all along. But, missing on the entire fleet of bigs is a tad bit disappointing. At least it'll kill off this dream class scenario talk, and hopefully misplaced faith in certain insiders who are promising all sorts of glory that their sources darn well can't deliver.

I haven't heard any optimism about Nolley either.

That's true. But he's been high on Illinois for awhile, whereas Castleton always seemed to favor somebody else (first Florida, and now Michigan).

But if Nolley goes elsewhere, man......there goes our insiders.

Nolley has stressed one more visit for awhile now...Georgia. Would not be surprised with a late commit to them. Hoping still for a commit to us.

This would leave us with a class of Nolley, Ayo, BPJ (doubtful), THT (probably not with Nolley), and or Finke?

Still calling Nolley, Conditt, Ayo, and THT to all commit to us!!! Keep the dream alive!

Winning games. Preferably in an aesthetically pleasing way.

Yes.

I'd also add "prove you can develop players."

Beilein does all of these things and he does them really well. That's why he can swoop in at the last minute.
