It isn't as simple as that. We got strung along, wasted a lot of time and effort, and still got dumped. 2 other schools got chosen ahead of us. If I'm BU, I move on and never look back. This isn't a Kipper Nichols sort of thing.

Since Coach Chin has been thinking for the last month that Nolley was locked in, I'm sure he has checked in with him to see what's going on. But I don't think the entire staff will be planning a flight to GA again, lol.

The timing of this makes sense, with Manning coming to visit him and his official to Chambana next weekend. I’m assuming he will announce at some point next week, and I like our chances...we’re due for a recruiting win, and what a win this would be!

+1 I'm expecting him to make it official :illinois:

Ayo was leaning WF, but then changed his mind and let Nolley know, hence the swift de-commit.

Sound good? Let's go with that.

Reading comprehension my friend. This response has nothing to do with what I quoted and responded to in my post. You might be okay with how things transpired, not everyone is. I hope BU is not. Finding out we were 3rd choice, and possibly 4th, doesn't make me want to run out and beg him to come here now.

yea no.... I read what you said perfectly well. BU would be crazy to not take a guy/make a guy a priority again because we were 3rd choice. And with this logic you must be pissed we ended up with Deron Williams when it was well known we weren't his first choice. My response is about getting the players you need to win. We land Nolley and everyone will forget that this ever happened. BU NEEDS to get recruits here, and is running out of top options. I hope he does what he needs to convince Nolley to come here and doesn't stick his nose up to him simply because the kid made a different decision initially.

I'm not suggesting that BU and the Illini staff invest more time and effort into Nolley, but the notion that we had the 3rd highest value to Nolley is unknown. If a>b and a>c, we do not know the relative value between b and c. We just know the timing when it was determined that "a" was > than each. Now we are finding out that "a" may not be > than one of them. We don't know if that's b or c.

The roller coaster this board will be this week and next will be fun to watch. With all kinds of "inside" info, crystal balls, assumptions, people making opinions sounding like certainties/definites, over analyzing tweets, what else??

Been on these boards following recruiting since around 98?? One thing hasn't changed and that's how Illinois fans look at recruiting and let it play with our emotions.

Enjoy the next few weeks and like the wind blow through your hair on those loopty loops

I truly believe Ayo is the piece that we need to return to glory. With that said its just so hard to be positive with the amount of bad luck we have had with the 18' class. I do believe Wake is leading and after reading an article tonight where Ayo said his Wake visit was a 10/10 I will remain super cautious. Not expecting anything but one thing I know I will love my illini until the day Im buried. Go illini

mom and dad apparently like VT, one of his final two teams.

he decommitted drom GA after talking to mom and Dad. I find it hard to believe a conversation with Ayo is what spun this into chaos,...just not buying it.

None of it makes sense. Are you suggesting he didn't discuss his commitment with his parents before he made it? That seems equally implausible.

considering it appears he committed during the OV and parents didn't accompany him....I think it's possible he could have impulsively picked GA without talking it through. You are right, none of it makes much sense.

What ever happened to Xavier and Ayo? I feel like I use to hear often how much of a player they were for Ayo and that they would be there until the end with Illinois. Also, what is exactly that Ayo sees in Wake? They haven't had hardly any success lately under their current coach and yes their current class is nice, but their previous classes are not very good at all. It would seem we have a much better team going into the next 1-2 seasons.

You may be right or the folks who think Ayo's influence caused the re-consideration may be right. All I know is I'm right 👍. I made no prediction. Just stating that we don't really know which round is the re-do. Maybe the semi-final game was the re-do. In which case we may both be right (you probably are, but I think we all want to eventually see him in O&B).

I am ok with someone else of similar caliber, but not because I'm butt hurt from the bracket. Guys that put the ball in the basket proficiently and prevent baskets from the other team are good to have on your side.

I will preface this with the statement that I have no idea what transpired. That being said...

It may be true (or may not) that his mom and dad liked VT, but I don't find that to be relevant. The fact that he conferred with them before decommitting implies to me that he does actually value his parents' input, and that he likely didn't commit without talking to them. To me, that leaves three most-likely things that occurred here.

1) His parents' favorite was UGA all along (proximity, still in the south, etc.) and he committed to appease them. Then he had buyers' remorse, spoke with his parents, who either relented with their pressure or else said "You don't have to choose our favorite. We will support you either way." Then he decommits, having received his parents' blessing on it.

2) His parents' favorite is irrelevant and he committed to UGA because he wanted to. Then he had buyer's remorse for whatever reason (doesn't need to be Ayo), talked to his parents about whether it was appropriate to decommit so soon if he felt he made the wrong choice, they said to do what he thought was right, and he announced is commitment.

3) His parents liked another school better (the one thing in favor of VT here is that it is in the South, and it had been hinted that he would stay in the South). When he pulled the trigger for UGA, they sat down and had a heart to heart and convinced him otherwise.

I don't know which is most likely, but I'd say the answer could be any of them, and not all of them are bad for us.

RBONCE, You are definitely right!

I'm kinda pulling for you to be right, too. If Ayo and the Fin came, we would be set very well and can continue to trash talk Cuonzo for his alleged interference or continued recruitment of committed players. Not suggesting BU or Chin had anything to do with Nolley's de-committ

Xavier just took a commitment from pg Keonte Kennedy (really good player btw, coached against him last year and will again this year).

In Wake, Ayo probably sees a pretty damn good recruiting class and a coach who played in the nba.
