It wasn't mentioned on the show.

If this is even a "thing", the good bet would be on the guy who left the AAU team so he didn't have to share the spotlight with another guy on the same team.

By process of elimination, you can probably figure it out.

Again, who knows how much of this is reality and how much is being overblown. The two people who know for fact is Underwood and Chin. That's it. Everything else is purely message board drama.

Yeah, I mean ... I didn't want to bring things up discussed on other boards. I posted something earlier today but it got deleted, so staying away from references outside of Loyalty.

Not necessarily.

There is nothing inherently wrong about leaving one AAU team to join another one for the sake of raising one's profile. Unless promises were broken, that's not an unusual move, and that doesn't make him a bad teammate.

Clearly, the Irvins were upset when he left, based on the way one of the Irvins bashed him on Twitter. So if you're trying to identify the party responsible who's talking trash about another party, a good bet is the Irvins. But I have no idea, and since I don't know what's going on behind closed doors, there's no sense in blaming any one party here.

Again.....I'd be very surprised if either of these kids have a problem with one another. And I sure as heck don't see THT as a problem case.

Between THT saying in the rivals article that it would be great to play with Ayo, and the influx of CB’s, I find all the hear say about this drama to be a bunch of bologna. Ayo’s parents have been very professional and a class act throughout his recruitment. I’d be shocked if they actually had an issue with THT joining the movement.

Really no sense in speculating. There is an issue it is being worked through. This would hardly be the first time people have entered into something with trepidation and ended up being forever happy they did it.

Yep, it's amazing what winning can do.

It's really sad that all of these kids have "camps". I controlled everything when it came to picking my college. Sure they went along for all of the visits and everything but the decision was mine and when it came down to it I told them where I was going.

In the business world they use the word "stakeholder" instead and everyone understands it's the nature of business.

Which one is me first/non-winning attitude?

I have a guess. I have no premium information of any kind and this is based on the Werner radio show and maybe one or two other tidbits. Take it with a huge grain of salt.

To me, it sounds like someone in the Ayo camp is salty at THT for leaving the MIF for his own self-gain (which succeeded) rather than staying to help the team win with Ayo. That would certainly be the simplest situation that would cause one camp to think the other has a me first attitude and not a team attitude. It's also pure speculation, so please don't quote it as factual.

It seems like that could be smoothed over among reasonable adults if BU and Coleman basically say "That was at a lower level, and when they are on our court, any player with a me first attitude is going to ride the pine." I, for one, think that the staff will be able to smooth over the edges with whichever camp is truly the one with ruffled feathers.

Reading the article it seems like it'll be Illinois. When he talked about the other schools he seemed like he was going with the motions of saying good things about the school but when he talked about Illinois it was all about legacy, who he could play with, and getting younger kids to join Illinois as well. I have a good feeling about this whole thing.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the Wake boards leading up to and immediately after the Ayo decision. Does anyone have a link to the best Iowa State and/or Xavier boards? Thanks!

Yeah, what ever happened to Wangor? Did he ever come back after Ayo's commitment and wish us well as he said he would? I thought his posts were decent and respectful considering the audience.

I was lurking over there after the commitment and he posted about being banned on this board.

Yeesh. I'm not a fan of that if true. Unless there was some post that he made to deserve it that I never saw.

Assuming this is true, I don't get how youd be salty at THT. The whole point of AAU nowadays is self promotion and showcasing/bettering yourself for college.

And its probably much easier to be content with a situation when your camp's person is taking 30% of the teams shots (per the stats on the mac Irvin site). Meanwhile, supposedly THT was told by the irvins he soht too much.

I mean, that's true that AAU is about self-promotion, but I can't really seem to figure out any event that would precipitate such a feeling. The article with the THT interview sounded much more enthusiastic about playing with Ayo than Ayo's statement about THT, which would seem to lead some weight to the idea that it is (primarily) the Ayo camp with concerns. I suppose they could just be longer-simmering concerns not related to THT leaving, though.

Either way, I think the staff ought to be able to get it done in assuaging the fears of whichever or both sides.

I'm usually quite optimistic, but I just have a bad feeling ... hopefully it works out to be a reverse jinx, because that would be a great recruiting start for Underwood and only make future recruiting easier!!

What any kid does to better his situation to earn a college scholarship at the school best for him is of no matter to another kids parents.

Of all the players we recruited this year, THT has been the hardest to read. One thing I noticed: there was more focus on this board about rumors than about the consistent recruitment focus of our staff--they never backed off. In part, what sowed seeds of doubt was THT's apparent lack of enthusiam for Illinois and how he slow-played his recruitment. However, he showed little enthusiam for any school, other than perhaps MSU and MI, and even then he didn't say a lot. He appears to be a low-key kid, working through the process one step at a time. I've become increasingly impressed about how he's handled his recruitment. He wants to get it over so he can focus on school. We are no longer on the outside looking in. I now will be surprised if he's not an Illini and the combination of Ayo and THT will be the booster rocket for recruiting Okoro.

While Iowa State and Xavier both have good basketball programs and I'm sure have rolled out the red carpet for THT, I can't help but think he will be an Illini on Thursday. He will play in arguably the premier conference in the country, when his parents can't attend the game, he will always be on television, he will receive national coverage and last but not least, play with a very talented group of young players. I think the timing of his announcement shortly after his on campus visit signals his interest in joining the Orange and Blue. The timing of his announcement allows him to go home, make some preparations, decompress a little, then make the big announcement.
