The key to this thing all along was winning over that Chicago circle. The Irvins have always wanted those blue bloods tor that national splash that helped their team. Who can blame them? We had two kinda dorky (I loved them btw) white coaches in a row.

Something has changed. There is a fire lit in Chicago.

DaMonte wins hands down.....he has the largest fan club on here. Next largest and close is Mark Smith.

Well I think some people just became more vocal because he was constantly not just being overlooked, but completely excluded from many future line-ups, recruiting class summary's and talk of the backcourt in coming years. Just no mention whatsoever time and again. However, I believe Mark Smith has the biggest fan club, or expectations, or however you want to phrase it of the group.

It's fascinating to me that THT's recruitment has been so under wraps and yet everyone seems to know where he is going. Did word leak? I know with Ayo, he said that he hadn't told either school until the moment of his announcement.

Good point. We still have about 6 more hours of "drama" left. If you graphed expectations they would have a steady decline with a gigantic spike up on the last couple of days. The 2017 recruiting year will be remembered for a long time.

Nope, he's from Chicago and it's a bad, bad place and full of overhyped athletes.:D

Q: would you rather have Zion Griffin or THT? I think it's a no-brainer: THT. Which isn't to say Griffin wasn't worthy, I think he'll be a good D1 player.

Clearly THT. Griffin did not fit Underwood's scheme and thus was never offered an OV. :)

I've only seen highlight videos for either, but just from the standpoint of being from Chicago Public League and what signing THT and Ayo could mean for the program and future recruiting I'd say THT.

Also, running and jumping is nice and makes for great highlight videos. Zion has the potential to be a great player. But the passing that THT brings as a forward separates them as players.

It's an interesting question. Until this summer, Griffin hasn't had the chance to develop as a perimeter player where he'll play in college. From what I've seen, THT is a more explosive player, not afraid to drive and he's more athletic. They both have great potential. For BU's system, I'd go with THT, but Griffin has a lot of upside and I think he'll be a standout player.

First of all, its not Ayo.
Its people around Ayo.
Second of all, what a horrible precedent to set and give into it.
I'd rather take THT and send Ayo's crew on its way.

That's what I would do if I was Underwood and the poster's statement turns out true. Don't care how good Ayo is, can't let any player waltz you around by your willy like that IMO. Seems to me we've got enough very good guards to weather an Ayo pissy fit and departure to Wake or wherever. Hope the statement is just a crock but if not that's how I would react if I was BU.

P.S. Feel free to yank this Dan if the other poster's statement doesn't deserve a response/comment here.

IF any of this is true, I don't think it's about letting one recruit dictate who comes here, I think it's probably more about whether we want to be In or Out with the Mac Irvin Fire --- which is going to be more than just one guy over time.

As Werner said on his podcast: NBA players don't get to pick their teammates. They aren't always friends with their teammates. They just have to get along well enough to win games.

That kind of naivete has no place in recruiting and roster construction.

What does that even mean?

Ugh. Is it really worth speculating like that? Besides, it's not unusual for coaches to make accommodations for elite players, like not recruiting over them, etc. It's possible there's a scenario where assurances were made, and Underwood is honoring his word.

Bingo.

I really hope nobody blames Ayo. This drama almost certainly isn't his doing.

We'll see shortly where THT goes. But I've been concerned from the very beginning about the way they went after THT this summer. Despite all the crystal ball picks and whatnot, I guess I haven't fully bought in yet to this breaking our way. I sure hope it does.
