The funnest part to me about all of this is, EVEN if it was true and its not, no one would care who commits, If you had a beef with someone then you would worry about the signing day stuff. but again is all fake news to sell papers as they say.

Yep.

Never had a good feeling about THT for exactly this reason.

I won't comment on what I think about this whole MIF relationship we have. Let's just say that there are costs associated with it.

It's really too bad, if indeed THT was told to take a hike. He seems like a great kid, as is Ayo. Once again, adults have their own agendas.

This is the problem with Chicago recruiting: too many factions.

If the Irvins are making Underwood pull his offer to THT because of a petty squabble, then Illinois is risking upsetting their Simeon connections (which have always been pretty good).

Of course this happens to Illinois - most snake-bitten program in the country :(

IF any of this is true, I don't think it's about letting one recruit dictate who comes here, I think it's probably more about whether we want to be In or Out with the Mac Irvin Fire --- which is going to be more than just one guy over time.

Wouldn't affect my opinion FWIW. It's Illinois'/BU's program, not any one or combination of Irvin's program. You let them dictate this, through the parents or the kid, you're the Irvins' patsy for the rest of your tenure here. Whitman can't let that happen, even if BU might. If THT wants to come you take his commit, try to keep both, but if Ayo says if he stays I'm gone, you say adios Ayo. All hypothetical at this point so I'll just wait and see what happens.

Is this something that is being rumored?

Sucks if it's the case, but I would rather they do this than watch Ayo decommit.

Sunday: We don't know where THT will commit.

Today: WE DON'T KNOW WHERE THT WILL COMMIT!!!!

Nothing has changed in the middle of that span

Oh boy. This is the ultimate fake insider show down...

I predict a lot of "he was Illinois up until the last minute, my sources weren't wrong" from people who never had a clue what they were talking about in the first place.

Illinois had been bumped to "warmer" this morning. Now Illinois is "cool". Why am I so invested in this??? 😅

We just sold our soul.
And the message is loud and clear now in Chicago.
Don't ever think about leaving MIF or there will be consequences.
Revenge is a dish served cold.

Man, I hope like hell none of this is true.

But it sounds like Piper and Werner are concerned about it. So, that has me concerned.

Very, very, very bad precedent if we allow the Irvins to dictate terms. If THT wants to come here, we take THT. Period.

Wow. We are honestly cursed. It will change some day but that day won’t be today. Terrible. At least we still have a very talented point guard in this class.

The ultimate example of our favorite motto “recruiting is fluid”. Unbelievable.

The problem is that the calculus isn't just Ayo vs. THT... It's probably Ayo + Okoro + Miller that they are figuring on.

I'm guessing Irvin's felt THT owed them and turned on them and they see Illini taking him as a slap in the face at their newfound alliance.

Short term pain for long-term gain. It's called operating in the "gray" and kissing the Chicago ring. On to the next one if true.

If what I have learned (I've posted about it before but thought both sides had reached reconciliation) is true regarding Ayo/Irvins, who's to say he even steps on the courts at IL. If he does, will he be a head case to deal with and even coachable (enter Jereme Richmond)??? What a major blow today in regards to momentum. However, if indeed the Ayo camp is able to deliver Okoro/Miller we will have all forgotten about this day.
