9000+ average fans isn't great but it's not that bad either.

Roughly 28,000 students show up to each football game at Texas A&M, which is over twice the entire capacity of Reed Arena. The record student attendance at A&M is 39,000 at a football game, which is three times the capacity of Reed. Yet they can only average filling Reed to just shy of 70% capacity even when they've been good lately? Basketball is and has always been an afterthought for Texas A&M fans. It probably always will be.

I agree they are second to football. Isn't basketball second to every school in Texas? But Drew Timme is from Texas and 9000+ fans a game and 2 sweet sixteen appearances in 3 years is going to be very compelling to him.

Anyways do you consider 9000+ fans to be "instability in that program"? Because that is why I made that comment.

OK, so where are you getting the Texas A&M and Gonzaga are leaders? From what I've read, the family has kept the recruitment very tight and most don't expect any inkling as to his destination prior to his announcement. National analysts making blind guesses as to his destination doesn't mean anything more than Illinois posters' suppositions on his destination.

This is pretty spot on. If you have any contact with the "experts" you know nobody really has a clue as to where Timme is leaning.

Now, I'm not saying he's Illinois bound, but it's anyone's guess as of now. 2 weeks left to go.

I'm not the one who claimed the program there was unstable.

Within the state of Texas A&M is viewed as having great student life and academics. In a way its kind of a cult environment but very desirable school.

Aggies are completely nuts. Cult is dead on. But it's totally football-centric, basketball is a nothing sport there.

Is he? Why?

He's been mentioned as a hot seat name. Expectations and prognostications would be the cause. He's done a good job but had a good amount of talent pass through without a ton of tangible results. He recruits well- better than I would expect for A & M. He seems like a decent guy (who knows though)... It seems to me like he's a classic case of needing to know who the replacement is before you terminate the guy you've got. They shouldn't fire Kennedy because off the top of my head, it seems like it might be tough to find a taker that would be better. Unless there is a ton of dough at stake.

A conference title and two sweet sixteens in the last 3 years? At Texas A&M?

I dunno, that place is crazy and has basically unlimited money, so who knows what they might do, and I haven't been super impressed with Kennedy as a game coach either, but I think he's pretty good and I'd be surprised if they dumped him so fast after a S16, especially with a good recruiting class coming in. We'll see I guess.

Heck they draw almost 5000/game for baseball. Drew, if about 9000/game is compelling to you, come and check out what 13,000/game is like, with over 15,000 when things are rolling.
