FIVE 2019 PROSPECTS ON THE RISE
KAHLIL WHITNEY – 2019 – SF – MAC IRVIN FIRE - ILLINOIS
Few, if any, were as impressive in flashes in this class as Whitney was at times this spring. His ceiling is extremely high and while others may currently generate more burn nationally, Whitney could be the one that does so when it’s all said and done. Equipped with a 6-7 plus length wiry frame, Whitney passes the look test immediately when he hits the court but his game and impact is anything but cosmetic. He has explosive bounce in traffic, transition, and off the dribble and he has versatility to score offensively at all three levels off the dribble, catch, or with his back to the basket. Sprinkle in plus length and lateral quickness making for a potential lock down defender and a willingness to mix it up and attack the glass or play physical and you have a sure fire recipe for a top 5-10 national prospect potentially. As consistency develops along with his physical tools expect to continue to see Whitney elevate on the national radar with plenty of big named high major schools jumping on his recruiting trail.
