You take Ayo, say thank you, and move on :)

There is absolutely no way that you turn down a commitment from any of Garland, Ramey, or Ayo for any reason. All very talented.

What he said. Absolute no-brainer. First come, first served.

Bagley maintains hold on No. 1 ranking in 2018 class
Eric Bossi | National Analyst

NOTES FROM THE UPDATED RANKING

At this point, we have only designated 18 prospects in the class of 2018 as five-stars. Headed into the ranking expansion and update, we had expected that number to climb to at least 20 but we only ended up adding one total five-star in the rankings update. Of the 18 five-stars, point guard Immanuel Quickley (No. 12), point guard Darius Garland (No. 13), power forward Carte’Are Gordon (No. 16) and center Moses Brown (No. 17) are the players who have been elevated from four-star status.

point guard Courtney Ramey (up 31 spots to No. 29)

Evan Daniels ‏@EvanDaniels Kentucky, USA Can confirm that Mohamed Bamba is scheduled to take his first official visit to Michigan this weekend. @SamWebb77 had the scoop.

Didn't even know Beilein was in on this kid. Thought it was Duke and Kentucky (or best scenario, Harvard although I knew that wasn't happening.)

FIVE 2019 PROSPECTS ON THE RISE

KAHLIL WHITNEY – 2019 – SF – MAC IRVIN FIRE - ILLINOIS
Few, if any, were as impressive in flashes in this class as Whitney was at times this spring. His ceiling is extremely high and while others may currently generate more burn nationally, Whitney could be the one that does so when it’s all said and done. Equipped with a 6-7 plus length wiry frame, Whitney passes the look test immediately when he hits the court but his game and impact is anything but cosmetic. He has explosive bounce in traffic, transition, and off the dribble and he has versatility to score offensively at all three levels off the dribble, catch, or with his back to the basket. Sprinkle in plus length and lateral quickness making for a potential lock down defender and a willingness to mix it up and attack the glass or play physical and you have a sure fire recipe for a top 5-10 national prospect potentially. As consistency develops along with his physical tools expect to continue to see Whitney elevate on the national radar with plenty of big named high major schools jumping on his recruiting trail.

Two problems: Whitney transferred to NJ and he's shrinking, apparently.

That said, highly likely we'll go after him. Knew he is good, didn't realize he's a Top 10 candidate. Liddell and Okoro are much more likely, IMO.

Reads more to me like he's waiting for bigger offers.

Didn't read that in it at all. he said he wanted to work his way up the rankings is all he said. Now, I guess you could infer that wanting to work his way up the rankings means he wants to be higher ranked to get bigger offers, and maybe ultimately it would be correct. But he just said he didn't think he was the 95th best player in the class and wanted to see that number move up.

MOB and Henricksen both think he'll be back in Chicago for his jr and sr years. Went to the academy in Jersey for academic reasons.

Yup. The parts that stood out to me were his comments on our 17' class and what he could bring to our front court after the departure of Thorne & Mav. The love for illini fans was a nice addition too. Take it fwiw

Couple that with the fact that he's scheduled no visits and says he's nowhere close to a decision.

Hasn't taken the ACT yet. Can't take any OVs until he does.

The next ACT test dates are 9/10 and 10/22. I wonder if he is signed up for the one next weekend. If he waited till October to take it the scores wouldn't be available until the 2nd week in November which would be pretty late to start taking visits.

Think one just has to have taken one of the standardized tests. Obviously, the score matters, but WRT OVs, don't think it matters.

Any word on the timing of the SAT in Detroit?:)

The university will be rocking tonight. An Illini win and great weather usually equals a lively Green St and campus. Good day to have a recruit come and see the campus.

Great to see him wearing an Illini shirt with Dee in the pic. Probably an intro to Lovie later, Dad would probably enjoy that more than the son.
