Tyger will be a good college point guard but he's not BU's type of guard. Not big or versatile enough at this level. Same reason he won't be looking closely at marquise walker.

We have no reason to look at him, my guess he might other issues.....meme syndrome.

BU isn't concerned with the size of his PG's. Tyger's size won't be a factor in his recruitment

I beg to differ. The point guards Underwood has recruited/recruiting: mark smith, Ayo, Nate Hinton, jalen lecque, Grant Sherfield. All are 6'4"+. His thing is big, long guards.

i didnt realize Ayo was that tall...thought he was 6'2 or 6'3? Jawun Evans was shorter too I believe (realize he was inherited by BU at OSU).

The question is does Nolley leave without committing? I think if we ever are to get him, the window is this week. If we don't get that commitment this week the chances of him ever coming here decrease greatly imo

Hard to imagine that he commits this week, although not impossible if the visit exceeded his expectations. I agree, with each passing week his recruitment becomes harder. However, we have no idea who the real competition is. Maybe Georgia. With Castleton, we have to wait and see what happens with FL. The sense is we are his second choice. Hayes is the wild card for this weekend, somewhat flying under the radar but would be a big get.

Appears Conditt left Ames without committing, which I find mildly surprising. Of course, he could announce a press conference on Tuesday.

I hope he doesn't look at him, means we are set at PG and have no need to be looking, beside the fact I never really was a big fan

I'd be ok with taking a PG every year if they are quality especially if some are guys like Smith who can also play off the ball and shoot. You can get guys shots even if they aren't elite scorers, but you can't teach a guy to run the offense if he doesn't have the handles and vision. See Groce, John.

Iowa State is definitely a threat to our recruitment of Conditt, although I don't think the legacy issue with his dad plays that big of a role.It could be an intangible factor. It's more about where George feels he fits, the comfort factor, and playing time. Hopefully, we get a chance to convince him his future lies at Illinois.

Decisions, Decisions

Should be a wild few weeks on the recruiting front. Makes me uneasy to not have a feel on commitments yet, but this staff knows what they're doing.

I see our class coming from 4 buckets:

Ayo

Nolley, THT

Ignas, Conditt, Hayes

BPJ, Sow, Castleton

Likely take one from each bucket if you can. If you take 2 from one bucket, you forgo any from another bucket.

The conservative play is one from each for balance. However, if BU really wants to play elite positionless basketball, he could try for Ayo,Nolley,THT and Conditt. Try to secure Liddell for '19 and aim high for one of the top 10 centers in America for the last '19 ship. That team could play with anyone for 2020 and 2021 and we'd be back.

I'm half assuming that THT and Nolley wouldn't come together and that Ignas is a pipe dream. However, if you could get both THT and Nolley as well as Ayo and the guys we have now - that is some crazy potential for playing Golden State style with those guards and wings.

The good news is that everyone on the list is a quality player and the trendline is pointing up.

I'm not suggesting they will, but I definitely think THT and Nolley could come together. A coach like BU can dispel fears they might have, especially in a system where 4 positions are somewhat interchangeable. Plus, these guys are looking at higher level problems where competition for playing time is a given from one year to the next. They may have a better chance to get early playing time at Illinois than at some other schools they are considering.

Is there supposed to be a secret visitor today? I thought I read that earlier.

.@Castleton_ tells me he had a great #Illini OV. Loved the guys. Staff had detailed plan to get him to the NBA. Campus lived up to the hype.

Landers Nolley (@thatbooych3z) tells me #Illini OV set the bar really high. Will have an in-home. Vibed REALLY well w/ Kipper & Trent.
