Just a question for if this day comes - if we miss on Ayo, who is our primary backup plan? Do we go after a even if we don't land him?

He is really the only PG we seem to be going after. If we miss I think we take wings/post

Illinois is hosting 2018 Moeller High (OH) big man Jaxson Hayes for an unofficial visit today

.@Castleton_ tells me he had a great #Illini OV. Loved the guys. Staff had detailed plan to get him to the NBA. Campus lived up to the hype.

Landers Nolley (@thatbooych3z) tells me #Illini OV set the bar really high. Will have an in-home. Vibed REALLY well w/ Kipper & Trent.

Encouraging comments. Of course, you expect positive feedback but we get an in-home with Nolley--which is big--and Castleton was specific about the NBA plan, which is something he has focused on in past interviews as being important to him.

In-home visit following OV great sign. Especially when others not scheduled.

Think sounds logical, should we have other PG in 19' , we could focus on. Both visits this weekend sound promising. Not sure we get commit soon, but positive feedback makes you feel good. Time for BU to seal the deal. The interest seems very high. Think all interested in what product will hit the floor. Ready for it to start.:thumb:

Amadou Sow scheduled an official September 29-October 1st.

Huge California lean but they have 2 or 3 ahead of him that they are waiting to see about. Included in that group is his teammate Jordan Brown.

Surprised at 3 things: #1 that there was no coverage of the 8:00 am open gym or for that matter that there even was one, secondly, no hint of Hayes even being on campus. UK even planted a pic of Jaxson and his sister w/Cal from Saturday's visit. Finally, it is really late in the process for THT to not have even one OV lined up.

Have I read on here before that OV's cannot be scheduled/taken if certain paperwork/grades/criteria aren't met?

I'm not familiar with his specific situation but yes, a recruit must have submitted all required documentation to the NCAA Eligibility Center before taking any official visits. Initial documentation is pretty basic (name, contact info, playing history, and a small registration fee).

They are not required to have obtained a certain standardized test score or GPA, but they have to have made enough academic progress to be classified as a senior since officials can only occur during a recruit's senior year.

Or you can go the Marvin Bagley route and magically pass an entire grade in one week, a la Billy Madison-style.

I'm not aware of such rules. The student must be a senior. Classes must have started and the student must register with the NCAA Eligibility Center, which involves a registration fee and providing general info. Grades, etc come into play later. However, I'm not sure if a school would pay for an official visit if they thought the student wasn't on track to graduate.

Duke bb is more like Kentucky everyday. Don't confuse it with the academic side of Duke.

This staff is either a super secret spy organization or we have just lost interest in recruiting.

Seems like there would be tons of info or speculation after these visits and a scrimmage.

This staff will probably only leak (IF they even will do so) when something concrete comes out. Last staff seemed to jump the gun and "Feel good" about alot of recruits. I like this way better

+1 This staff thinks more strategically, and I like that.

Yep, lack of info is boarding on b o r i n g even though we know we've never had it so good. Need October to come around soon and games to begin to break up the monotony.

Taking info where you can get it -- some info and beliefs from Iowa State board.
Info:
They have in-homes with Conditt, Griffin and THT next Sunday and Monday.

Beliefs:
Conditt and his dad want him at Iowa State; his mother prefers Illinois but was impressed with Ames this weekend. They feel pretty good about both Conditt and Griffin (and some other guys we're not and were not involved with).

Morgan Park big man Tamell Pearson, top 10 prospect in Class of 2018, has committed to #UAB. Really nice pick-up for UAB.

Also this weekend, not our recruits but Kendle Moore of Danville committed to Drake and Marcus Liberty's nephew Javon Freeman-Liberty is going to Valpo.

Would not expect a Landers Nolley commit --anywhere-- for a while.

Makes no sense to me why kids do this? He already has taken an official and has 3 others scheduled? Just pick a 5th school and call it done?
