CC seems to be a big fan of Beilein (can you blame him?). Seems like he's held on to Michigan in his recruitment with the hope that they'd turn up the heat on him, and now they have.

As much as we'd like to think that we'll have a leg up because we've been on him longer, we shouldn't be that naive. More often than not, kids end up at the best program that is serious about taking them.

This article is from Aug. 23rd. Has he narrowed the field since then? Or has he even indicated he is going to narrow it down further? I didn't see anything but that doesn't mean anything. Thanks

soon

So much passion surrounding ‘18 bball 6’11” bball rec Colin Castleton. Confirmed his list getting shorter, will be 2 left standing. #illini

There is nothing that Castleton has said during his recruitment that would suggest he is ready to cut Illinois. On the surface the things he has said indicate just the opposite. However, the fact that BU is suddenly looking at another big looks suspicious. Also, Castleton did have MI in his last cut even though they had not offered at the time. He's had contact with them for some time. Once again, too many ways to parse his recruitment to draw any conclusions.

This recruiting season is full of great drama, with both risk and reward for every player we are after. It's like sitting on top of an Atlas rocket, ready to blast off, and a few guys in the control room are saying "sit back and relax."

Words of wisdom TownieMatt and I fear you are right. But I'm clinging to CC's mention of liking positionless-ness and really being a priority. Perhaps we'll come off as prioritizing more given that we had at least been prioritizing him longer.

Well Illinois is seriously interested in taking him from all accounts. I hope he ends up here, and that his visit to Michigan is just to make sure he has looked thoroughly at all his options before committing. And not that he really isn't that sold on Illinois and is looking for anyone who really wants him other than Illinois.

is castleton better than Michigan's Teske and Austin Davis? they seem to be pretty deep with bigs already.

This is quite simple folks. Have we already forgot people questioning why Castleton would have Michigan on his list when they hadn't offered? People noticing why he speaks so glowingly of Michigan when they haven't even offered? Well they've offered now. Purdue took someone else so he said let's go visit Michigan.

Florida is out because they don't have room and he is a plan b or c guy for them.

So it is Illinois in the lead with Michigan given a chance to steal.

Karma time ...

Maybe CC plans to visit Michigan, but secretly he is going to stop by and visit Underwood on the way home....

I agree, I think the most likely scenario is Illinois and Michigan, as Florida may not be ready to move on. The second most likely scenario is Michigan and Florida IMO, still waiting on Florida (that's why cutting his choices and not committing) but adding Michigan.

In any case, I can't see Michigan getting dropped, if he opened the door to Michigan coming in and now preparing for OV, it means that he was not completely sold and ready to pull the trigger on earlier choices, for whatever reason.

I could see him originally weighing Illinois/Big Ten vs Florida/SEC . If Florida dropped down, either because of their approach, lack of prioritization, non-commitable offer, whatever, and Michigan arrives around the same time, maybe he shifts to a Big Ten focus, but having only visited Illinois he wants to see another Big Ten program to compare. He had been planning to visit Purdue, but that fell through, so seeing Ann Arbor (who has also been successful, and who has a proven coach who has developed Bigs) makes sense. I suspect it's down to UM and Illinois. And I think we'd have a better than 50% chance, but who knows.

BOOM! Feed my ego.
2018 four-star big man Ian Steere decommits from Creighton

The 6-foot-9 power forward from North Carolina cited distance and potentially being closer to home as reasoning for his decision.

So probably not on our radar and we aren't on his (although Illinois is closer then Creighton). Just throwing it out there as he is considered one of the best centers available now

Sounds like a fit for NC State.

I don't know but he definitely has a more big ten ready body. Not a tremendous athlete but has some skill. I like it.

BU must have liked what he saw on Wednesday, because he just offered him. A true 5 that is ready to play now. Kisunas' level of competition is off the charts. Starting center at Brewster on 2017 --33-0 National Prep champions. Did not play AAU ball last summer as he spent time playing in Europe.
UCONN just offered him to and he's taking an OV next weekend there.

Things are starting to get downright interesting in that Illini offer 6'9" PF Filip Petrusev out of Montverde.

Our staff is smart enough to know, keep all options open. It's obvious that we have made our priorities known, Ayo, then a big and wing. CC knows that because he's not stupid either, but he has seems to think he's the priority big here, and likes that. Ego needs stroking, good, make him feel better.

Conditt is going to commit , and Landers soon also. I have been trying to watch all the tweets , and back forth, Conditt ,IMO, is #2 big man on our list, leads me to believe he is going to Iowa State. Landers is coming here, again IMO.

That said our visit with Ayo is coming, Landers will be here, And CC we are waiting for. Again IMO, THT is waiting to see what Ayo will do, but also knows he is a priority for us, but he's our slow play, because he's set the tempo.

Nolley has been active on social media, and seems to want to lead. His commit, I believe will start the dominos to fall. We shall see in a couple of weeks.;):illinois:
