How do we know he can guard multiple positions? How do we know he can guard at all? I know we like the Draymond comp but does he have that mindset? He's talented offensively, no doubt but a little too early to say he can even guard a paper bag

Mindset may be the most difficult attribute to measure - did MJ or Kobe (or Curry) have the mindset, or did they develop it through their experiences, or some combination of both?

@ACIlliniRyan: The OV for '18 C/PF Lukas Kisunas will be this weekend for the #illini. Things have moved up for many reasons. Illinois looking 2 secure Big

When I was a teenager I was a pretty good pickpocket on defense. Because of this, my mindset was that I could guard Allen Iverson and probably steal the ball from him. As I have gotten older, I have learned that just because it was my mindset, didn't make it true.

It doesn't matter what your mindset is if you can not physically do something.

Well, that escalated quickly. My takeaway is that staff really doesn't want CC to go on his OV to Michigan.

Not my read. Mine is they've got Castleton, Conditt is going to Iowa State. They want 2, so get Castleton and the Euro.

If that's correct, we're clearly not getting Nolley AND THT. Not seeing a 5 man class.

FWIW, can definitely see the appeal of adding a banger big to the mix.

Do people really keep records of who predicted which recruit to go where? seems like entirely too much to care about. Is it a competition? :whoo:? I can't remember who posted what from yesterday.

Go Illini :chief:

That makes sense to me. I believe they'd take Nolley's commitment now if he wants to cancel VT visit. If not, then they are giving every opportunity for THT to claim the spot if he wants it. There are a lot of dominoes to fall between now and Oct 13.

THT + Nolley=strong possibility

I don't want him to go on that Michigan visit either.. they need to put the threat of another commitment out there and they might want to accept 2 bigs.

I don't like the idea of Kisunas. I guess they really would like 2 bigs.

I just don't think THT wants to play with Ayo. Everything about THTs recruitment just says he is patiently waiting and watching.

I'm guessing we'll get Castleton, Nolley, Ayo and the Euro.

Any class that has Castleton, Nolley and Ayo is a smash home run right off the bat.

Adding on a THT, BPJ, Kisunas or the Finn would be six levels of awesomeness.

I'm wondering when those two schools became our main competition for so many recruits? It seems they are in on so many of the same that we are.

Yeah, it is sort of odd.

Iowa State doesn't have any obvious Chicago connections from what I can tell. Prohm is a southern guy, as are most of his assistants. But Iowa State has been a good program for awhile, and they're regional, so it makes sense to see them involved in the area. It's not like Iowa produces a ton of HS talent.

Hilton is a great game day atmosphere, and the campus seems like a hoops-first destination. Plus, a former Iowa State legend is the Bulls coach now, so at least the city has some recognition of Iowa State.

As for Xavier.....they're another regional power, and Mack is a pretty solid recruiter. I imagine that Indiana, Purdue, and Ohio State go head-to-head with Xavier more so than we do.

What do you not like about Kisunas? He looks a lot more big ten ready than Castleton to me.

His ranking of 247 #303 does not excite people. But, hey look what staff has already done with #515 recruit Spicy G.:)
Florida/FSU may have been onto something too when they felt CC should go the prep school route. Plus Xavier, Baylor, and Purdue all going in a different big man direction also said how they felt about CC.
I don't see CC ending up an Illini.

Beilein wants CC, though, and he's a pretty darn good talent evaluator (one of the best IMO as far as college bball coaches go). That's good enough for me. I'm not really as hot on Kisunas. If we're going to get another euro I'd rather it be the Finn (Valtonen) even though he's not a big. If we need another big aside from CC (assuming we get him) I'm still holding out some modicum of hope for BPJ, a proven transfer, or a guy who blows up late.

It would be interesting if CC leaves AA without committing and Kisunas commits to Illinois. Not likely, but interesting if it does.

What have they done? He hasn't played a game yet.
