If you watch film, I would have decommitted also, Iggy and Castelton BOTH would have benched this kid. He has talent but not that kind.

Currie had reclassified to get in 2018, wondering what happened, with CC going there this weekend, not sure how that will end up. Glad we looking into other options.

I'll remain hopeful that this is a last ditch effort by ScUM to convince CC to commit this weekend. :illinois:

From the beginning CC always sees UI as backup (to UF and then to UM). Why we bother so much about a kid who's so reluctant to come here. I bet once the college transfer rule changes he will flee immediately if there is any suiter.

Conditt may not have the same talent. But if he chooses here he would be happy with that decision. I want him more.
This is just flat out not true, and also doesn't even make logical sense.

This makes the staff look like geniuses for getting after other bigs. Obviously, they sniffed this sort of thing happening.

But some insider said that CC was already essentially committed to Illinois.

Cannot compute!

I think Illinois was Deron Williams third choice. That worked out just fine IMHO.

In this case though, I think Michigan wants Castleton. And now, they have room.

That Currie kid decommitting changes things entirely, I'm afraid. At this point, I'd be very pleasantly surprised if Castleton isn't a Michigan commit within a week.

Decommitting isn't really what happened. He was told he didn't have a spot anymore. Saying it is mutual is a way for the kid to save face and for UM to try to avoid bad press.

CC has been on the fence, but we are in his final 2. The staff has done about all they can do bring him here. If he doesn't come here, TBH, he decided we just wasn't good enough for him. If that is so, we are better off.

Sucks because theres no way to take that decommit as a good thing. Playing time was one of our selling points. Sounds like he is Michigan bound.

I long for the day when players don't have to be sold so hard, and eagerly want to be part of the product they see on the Illini court. For now I have to be content with being a good back up plan. Heres to hoping a few of our targets want to be part of this thing.

If we're going to be an elite team, I'm okay with telling a player that his playing time will be cut and give him the opportunity to go where he can get more playing time. I know we've railed against Creaning but I'm ready to win.

Won't be the least bit surprised if Lukas is our first 2018 commit.

Ironic thing is that CCs playing time will be limited by 4 other bigs in front of him if he chooses Mich.

You guys just got to let this play out. Nothing is finalized yet.

Trust the staff. They know what they are doing.:shield:

They will get us a big.

Can't belive the pessimism here.
Can't you? Illinois has been the poster child for chronic bridesmaid in recruiting for a decade. And it's playing out again.

But I'm not pessimistic, personally. Staff has an air of confidence and competence. They will make things happen.
