I know Underwood stressed for the fan base not to be concerned with rankings, because he does not put much stock in them for his system. However, are people actually very excited about the possibility getting a player currently ranked 210?
Conditt can play inside and out in this system. Bulk him up and increase his explosion and you're looking at a potential monster mismatch. If he maxes his potential(big if obviously), how do you guard him? A big? He'll use his guard skills on the perimeter to exploit the matchup. A guard? Let's cut conditt into the post and let him work. Some major hypotheticals in there no doubt, but not hard to see how he can work for us.
The purpose of mentioning that 9 weeks is left before signing day is not about urgency or anxiety or confused puppy dogs (although I loved that pic). It was only intended to provide a context for people on the site who may not follow the timeline as closely as some of us do--there are 9 weeks left to signing day, effective tomorrow--that was the only point. However, as a general principle, I would never be in favor of removing BS from any discussions involving sports.
As far as BU needing to pull the class together over that period--that's also a fact. The underlying interest for me is to observe how he does it. Do you go hard for Nolley, hoping he can bring Ayo? Do you tell Castleton you're holding a spot for two weeks, then it's first come, first serve? Do you wait on Ayo and THT to make plans or do you take the initiative and leverage visits in a strategic way? It's now a game of chess involving players, parents, countering moves of other coaches, coordinating visits, planning in-home presentations, and on and on.
The thing with Conditt is that he has some time to bulk up before he gets on campus. Get Fletch to design a program for him and if he really works in the gym over the next year he could definitely step on campus with a body that is more big ten ready. He has said he knows he needs to work in the weight room, so it's just a matter of getting a good plan (which Fletch can do) and then executing. Some people seem to be hesitant about Conditt, but it's not like we are fighting off mid-majors for him. He got a ton of offers this summer for a reason.
Officials allow for certain things to be done that you can't do on an unofficial

Yeah, pay for transportation, lodging, and food. http://www.ncaa.org/student-athletes/resources/recruiting-calendars
If you are Ayo and debating your last official between USC and Illinois, USC is paying for that trip every time.
Is he allowed to do that before he officially joins the team? Legitimate question.

He's scheduled two officials so he's not deciding between those schools you mentioned for one last paid visit. He realistically may not need an OV here but some of this rationalization is going sideways a little bit.
Fact of the matter is:
1. He hasn't scheduled an OV to either of the past perceived top schools.
2. Either he wants to see some newer contenders first to get a read on everything then will explore visits to Xavier and here. Or he's truly moved his school priorities and no recruiting analysts have picked up/reported on it.
The one thing that concerns me is his comment that if he finds the right school, he'll commit then. With that comment, it's almost a negative towards Xavier and Illinois as he's very familiar with both and has visited each a few times.
But there's nothing that can be done right now, either he eventually visits (or commits) or he doesn't. Without more info on his mindset with these two visits, it's hard to really gauge what's going on.
I'd be shocked if it isn't. There is no way that these guys aren't put on a weight training program to get ready for day 1 of practice.
Staffs often tell kids what types of things they want them to work on and give them drills to do. I don't see any reason why giving them advice on diet and a weightroom plan would be any different.
This isn't a thing.
Bet you a beach house he visits Illinois in by the end of Oct.

Need to seal the deal with Conditt on his OV, can't wait for Castelton. Staff should be able to get it done.
I am hearing great things regarding Nolley. He was chatting on twitter last night with a WBB player that he met on his OV.

looooooool, forget the great visit, the expertise of the staff, and the detailed development plans that Underwood appears to pitch to each recruit.
Wowzers!!! Said womens Bball player is a total smoke show. All of a sudden I want to watch some Illini womens bball. Can we say Skylar Diggins??? If the media gets wind of this girl I can totally see her social media status rise.
Guaranteed I'm old enough to be her dad but she is stunning. Was thinking the same thing. I mean, daaaayummm. (*goes back and hides after realizing old enough to be her dad)
