Plummer >>> Starks

[ directed at everyone ] Just because we've had mostly poor results with transfers, doesn't mean new guys are destined for similar results. Independent variables something something and our staff knows what they're doing.

Agreed. Plummer is bigger and has much better court vision than Starks had. No guarantee that he's going to be a star, but he has some great qualities. I like what I've seen and read so far.

Once again, any recruiting news today ?????...I kinda liked the news yesterday, but today the " Days of our Portal Lives " dominates this thread......

Will he leave or come back ???
What does mom think ????
his handlers think ????
is it LSU or UK ???????

Give me some recruiting news in this thread PLEASE..........use the other thread for the soap opera that is consuming many here....
He leaves ?? OK
He stays ??? OK

I'm sure Brad and staff have it covered either way......The most important thing is the TEAM....period....case closed.....

I was overjoyed that our new transfer, Omar Payne, went to our new recruit's, RJ Melendez, signing ceremony....That's what matters to me....

Still think the defense concerns are legitimate. He would come in and immediately be our worst defender, and playing both 6'1" Belo and 6'1" Plummer (neither are a stout 6'1" either) would be a major liability. You can definitely do worse of course, but I think that backcourt would really struggle in certain matchups.

Chemistry wise, I feel like Plummer adds more to the team than Miller. He already has a relationship with Curbelo and furthers the Puerto Rican connection. I'd be super happy with this pick up.

I mean... Miller also has a relationship with Curbelo (from playing with him while in a COVID bubble for a years) and furthers our Chicago connection. I just don't see how this can possibly move the needle either way.

Plummer actually graded out as a good defender last season. He is small yes, but he can defend.

So you think a player going into the portal and then returning doesn't rub anyone on the team the wrong way? You don't think it'll be a passing joke and a source of friction?

In the end, I don't know what went down and I'm not claiming to. Miller's camp is going to do what's believed to be best for them, and that's just life. But I find it hard to believe there would be 0 tension, even if limited, if he returns.

Podz reminds me of a John Deibler type guy. A guy who can play on and off the ball who will get into a guys shorts on D. If he can play to Deibler’s level, we have a solid player. Melendez could be a shorter version of Robbie Hummel. A guy who can take the ball to the basket, a really good shooter with lots of length. Finally Omar Payne reminds me of Nigel Hayes of Wisconsin. A solid defender but not the scoring ability. We have hit an HR with these and with Goode that we can afford to let Miller walk. Add Plummer to the team and we will he a top 4 seed in the Tourney next year.

To be honest, I don't think we've had poor results with transfers?
Alstork & Adonis are the only ones who didn't pan out. Both of them were from our first 2 seasons. More roster fillers if anything. Adonis was also injured

Grandison, Feliz, and Hutch. We still haven't seen Hutch so I'll wait to judge, but I like our track record so far.
Short memory or haven't been here very long?

I agree that Plummer is better than Starks was (hence the smiley face sticking out tongue). And if he comes here, I think he has a good chance to put up solid or better offensive stats. I would just echo the last 6 words in your post and apply them to if Miller does come back to Illinois.

We are in Plummer's top 5. Decision Saturday. If he comes it will likely be for the 6th man role.

Plummer would not come for a reduced minutes and 6th man role, no way. My guess it is down to BYU and Illinois. Have we confirmed 100% that Frazier is coming back? I know the Schroat interview and all but has Trent confirmed what his Uncle/Dad alluded to?

Yeah, definitely a concern. But one doesn't have to squint too hard to envision him being VG (or better) in a certain role.

Sure. But this whole “bad attitude” notion is purely fan base conjecture. This is something that was started here and we have absolutely no idea if there is any merit to it; none. But it keeps getting repeated so many times that it has become reality to so many on this board. Ffs...
Seems like saying he was happy here is fan base conjecture too. 🤷🏻‍♂️ It goes both ways.

You don't get to claim you know what's going on, then claim to not know what's going on. You're making up scenarios and trying to pretend you're not. Maybe just stick with "I have no idea what's going on" without adding the nonsense going on in your head.
