I'm not necessarily sold on that. I think we only saw a snippet of AM and like Trent he took a lot of tough looks that might not reflect his true shooting ability.
I'm not saying AM won't be a quality player and I do recognize it was his freshman campaign but Adam's struggles from deep weren't from "tough looks". He rarely jacked up a contested 3. He actually missed lots of open looks. I would say Franklin had far more "tough looks" this year. Indiana's offensive sets were agonizing to watch. I wish Adam well, but think Franklin could be more than a neutral replacement. JMO

Not to mention Franklin himself shows the jump between Freshman and Sophomore year can be huge. As a Freshman Franklin shot 34.8% from the field, 26.6% from 3, and averaged 3.7 pts a game. I think that should put into perspective what Miller accomplished as a Freshman and why you'd rather have him back with the potential jump he could make. That being said, Franklin would be a great addition now that Miller is gone and I really hope we land him.

I guess the positive of the AM transfer is we have a ton of minutes to offer wings. This might change NB mind or Franklins.

Saying Franklin is better than AM right now and that AM could wind up better than Franklin can both be true. I think Curbelo and Kofi recently have kind of spoiled us with being really good freshmen right away, just look at Franklins numbers as a fresh.

That’s what has me down about it. I think AM will be much better down the road. He was a bit passive on offense a lot of the time, but he very rarely made “freshman mistakes”. He is going to make some team better.
We are a worse team today with him in the portal. That said, I’m confident BU & Co. will get the roster where it needs to be to stay relevant in the conference.
I think every team in the country (other than the obvious 4) is going through something similar. No need to panic, but its not fun to watch good players leave.

Y’all got any of that good news?

Podz' AAU teammate, '22 Jovanovich, intrigues me. Anyone know anything about him?

We have two good shooters coming in the summer. It seems like we forgot that Goode and Melendez will be good for us next season. I would assume the coaching staff knew about this before it was released. But who knows that AM may realize that UI is his best option. I was looking forward to his sophmore year on the team.

I'm very excited about Luke and R J coming aboard...I think they will make up for AM leaving without ANY drop in production....
Two 6'7" sharpshooters are what is needed to balance out the roster and if Franklin or others sign up then we can continue our upward trajectory and stay off the bubble for the dance...

If we bring in Franklin (and Hutch is healthy), we're gonna be a better 3 point shooting team than this season's team.
I really really hope Hutch is healthy as all the reports on his athleticism has me excited about what he can bring to the production on the court...

I wonder if his progress back to the team had any effect on AM's decision......????

Are we waiting on a possible recruit to qualify? Is that the good news next week?

I would love to see actual statistics to back this up.
Its simple. We were a poor shooting team from outside. Numbers have a tendency to hide the reality. We did not have creators when it came to outside shooting. Frazier rarely created, Williams was too slow to create. Ayo was streaky. We did not have a guy people was scared of. Even Ayo has flaws. Teams who were long and athletic gave us issues. Next year, we will have better more consistent shooters. I am a firm believer that Hutch will be an option. Melendez and Goode can shoot over defenders that Williams and Frazier could not. We get TyTy into the mix or another shooter, we will have defenses spread out more. Teams knew that putting token pressure on Williams that he would not shoot the ball. Frazier, as much as he is a great Illini, was never consistent. We will be longer and have more pure shooters than we have had in several years. I expect Hawk and Grandy to be solid shooters. This will open up more scoring for either GB or Kofi if he returns. Teams cheated off certain players in which showed our other major weakness which was passing. I expect a more fluid, faster, better passing team next year which will open up shooters to hit shots.
