Sure. I won't lose sleep over it just like none of them will. It just boggles the mind when a top 35 ranked player who started most of the year for us as a true freshman in a year where we were a #1 seed is treated like he was some ho-hum player with little upside. Goodness.
Yeah, kinda like UK having little interest in Koifi

Smart play. Keep our powder dry and be ready to pounce on an elite mid-season transfer or a prep who re-classifies (a la the big we were after who went to UCLA).
I assume the only reason that was happening last year with people like Etienne is because that year didn't count. I wouldn't imagine that many would want to burn a full year on one semester. I could be wrong though

I don’t know much about the mid-season transfer rules. I’d assume there will be a deadline to enter the portal to be eligible for second semester?

I don't know if Brad is going to endorse the scheme of leaving a scholly open for the purpose of adding a mid season player , but I think Trent and DMW coming back has opened up that possibility.....We have a loaded upperclass team not counting Kofi , and we have some super talented frosh to add to the roster....things are looking great for the beloved's future and recruiting is en fuego with the OXI-MAN Chester Frazier cleaning it up on 2022 and hopefully he isn't done yet....

Count me in the """""I'M STOKED """ crowd....................................

I believe a mid season transfer just starts the clock on the sit out year quicker (in a standard year)

Yes - he started a semester early because it wouldn’t count against his eligibility. Otherwise he would’ve waited and been a traditional class of 2021 recruit.

Probably not a bad idea when they are carrying two extra players in Damonte and Trent. There already aren't enough minutes to go around to the freshman to make everyone happy. Not to steal a John Groce saying but players play players. There will definitely be kids that aren't happy at the end of the upcoming season.
I don’t care how much they love the guys, there are players not happy with the super senior situation in all sports. I sure wouldn’t be. As a fan it’s great, but not for the guys looking for some tick.

I could've sworn Brad is just lucky and his assistants do all the recruiting, development, and coaching

Cam Whitmore: “They were the No. 1 coming out of March Madness. Even though they took a tough loss it would be a good fit. Coach Brad Underwood is a very good coach who knows what he's talking about with the development piece.”

Asa Whitmore: "Coach Underwood is a great guy, it was really fun to talk to him, coach Alexander has been doing a good job recurring me. They're always at the top of the Big Ten."

I read that article to find out what high school to go to in case hoops games are open to the public next season. What high school?

I think it's really hard to project big guys more than a year out. High School kids change so much physically from year to year, and often those changes come with significant adjustments to how and where they play. The guys who grow up and show out early get a TON of attention from everyone. They don't often commit early. (Only 2 Top 10 Centers for 2022 have already committed; Only 6 top 40)

Go get him (Whitmore), Chester!

Obviously, there's a lot more to it than that. It's clear that Whitmore's been paying attention. Would love to pull him out of the turtles' backyard. Underwood or Turgeon? Pretty easy decision there.

I know the word around here is that both Grandison and Hutcherson will be gone after this year; but if either of them opted to stay an extra year I don't see Illinois telling them no. So holding off on that extra scholarship could be smart moving forward as well just in case.

Where has that word been? I haven't seen anyone implying they are leaving.
