Actually, DEFCON 1 is the worst. Yesterday was more like a 2. You’ll see DEFCON 1 when Tipton posts the Kofi to UK edit. If that comes to pass it will be worse than Cliffmas and IDKWTI to IU. Combined.

Yea not close..... I think a lot expect Kofi to go and there are some signs out there saying so.

Those other two situations were much worse. Not sure I have ever disliked an 18 yr more than the first one. At least IDKWTI was an Indiana kid so you almost expected something to go wrong.

I'll despise Gordon much more than kofi. But in terms of hits I kinda put the Kofi one higher if it happens.

The Cliff thing is just a joke of a footnote. Sure it hurt but it's not like we went months planning on him.

IDKWTI was so so depressing. The worst part was having a Indiana fan at work who just would not stop gloating over it.

Cliff was a definite nut punch that hurt for a while, but it was not near as deflating.

Y'all entitled to your opinion, but I don't share it. Kofi talks glowingly of OA, and he left for Kentucky. From what I understand, the program went to great lengths to keep him, but we know the result, and that's not on Kofi. Players follow coaches all the time. Hate to say it, but IMO we're on the outside looking in.

I'm impressed so many players stayed given we lost all three ACs. Staff has done a heck of a job replenishing those positions, and I wouldn't be surprised if we're in a better, more stable position long term. But...the turnover is disruptive. NIL is going to make every year something of a scramble right up through enrollment.

Please no past-tense until it becomes past-tense, thank you!

IDKWTI was really bad. Really really bad. Cliffmas was very bad too, but the trajectory he took at KU really blunted the impact of that one. I just don't see how losing a recruitment, even one that involves a last second decommitment, can compare to losing a guy like Kofi. He's worn the orange and blue for two seasons, and has been as fun to watch as any other player I've ever seen put on the jersey. He's an All-American and could have his jersey in the rafters one day (don't know what will happen with that if he transfers tbh, but he's already eligible given his AA status). To me, if this transpires, that stings far more than losing someone who's never played a game for us. Just my opinion.

I imagine if Kofi decides to transfer, we won't be seeing his jersey in the rafters anytime soon. Just my gut feeling.

In both cases their fathers got paid. Sons went where their fathers told them to.

The thing about Cliffmas is that it wasn't just him: Snider decommitted and signed with Louisville instead that morning, and then that afternoon we were purposefully punched in the gonads by a teenager. I wasn't around this board for IDKWTI so I can't speak to the collective reaction, but the double whammy on 11/15/13 makes it the worst in my book.

Fair, but if you could pick either junior Kofi or freshmen Cliff Alexander and Quentin Snider on your team, which are you taking? I'm taking Kofi all day, every day, and it's not even close.

If memory serves, that was also the day the music died. I think someone even wrote a song about it.

I don’t know. That is tough. Is it ”not even close?”
I think you have to think of the relative position of the program at the time and the team that is left. IMO, that loss set the program back for 5 years. Maybe Kofi leaving would do the same, but not so sure about that. I think we have a pretty good team and some solid recruits coming in. We need a big, yes, but….worth some discussion.
