Good question. It appears to be more about aau team rivalries.Tai Streets is the "streets" of Meanstreets ... is there an issue between Tai Streets and Illinois? Are we forever shut out as long Howard is the coach?
Similar basketball politics between other hotbeds and their respective state school? I do admit I don't pay attention to recruiting at others schools, so Illini and Chicago is my only reference.I'd be willing to bet there are similar basketball politics in other basketball hotbeds. We just hear a lot more about Chicago because it's 3 hours from campus.
Frazier had VT in the final 10 for Mady Traore.I read that Virginia Tech was in the mix for a couple of high-profile 2022 recruits 4* Justin Taylor and 5* Jarace Walker. Frazier was VT's lead recruiter, so....
Didn't know that. Loooong way to go and will be a very difficult get, but Traore is at the top of my Kofi replacement list.Frazier had VT in the final 10 for Mady Traore.
I thought “ I’d be willing to be bed” was going to be followed up by something much more.....interesting.
That’s good! Hope to see something positive from Podz soon.Payne updated his bio to say Illinois. It didn't before. This should provide comfort for those worried after Chin and Orlando became official.

Perhaps the grey area is slightly more grey in Lexington...Crystal Balls for TyTy now adding up for Kentucky - 3 more today after the assistant coaching announcement.
While those coaches were at Illinois, TyTy wasn't coming to Illinois. Now that they're at Kentucky... the feeling is that he's heading to UK. I wonder what's different.

Yep, that's the way I'd like to look at it.Curbelo
im not worried about anyone who has already signed with us. what im worried about is a drop off in talent or getting kids that dont fit in or are not capable of living up to their rankings.Payne updated his bio to say Illinois. Not just this year only. Rule change was officially ratified last Wednesday.Just a recruiting type of question. Is the transfer portal where a player does not have to sit out a year a permanent change, or is
it this year only? With all of the changes because of Covid-19 it is hard to be sure that a change like the transfer portal rule is
not just a one year deal. If this is a permanent change, that is going to make the job of recruiting responsibility far more involved
Suddenly, recruiting means high school, transfer portal, and keeping your own players out of the portal. Personally, I think the portal
is legally more in sync with society. The sit out a year punishment for transferring is a typical NCAA, don't rock the boat, butt head rule.
Free agency in professional sports was basically court imposed. I like "free agency" it keeps things interesting at the pro level. I don't like
the portal because I can see all sorts of abuse and problems with young players being pushed, but locking someone in a program
is not exactly a "freedom of choice" model. I am sure that someone on the forum knows the answer, so I thought that I would ask
the question.
Moving forward all student athletes will have one opportunity to transfer w/o a sit out year. Definitely going to change the way rosters are built and maintained. It shouldn't be quite as crazy as this year, as most of the players who aren't satisfied for one reason or another are in the portal now. My guess is that it is going to make it really hard for mid majors to hang onto under-rated players for more than a year or two.Just a recruiting type of question. Thanks for including the link for the official rules, now I know the details. Not just this year only. Rule change was officially ratified last Wednesday.
I'll bet sacraig has done it in 23 hours. It's only 24 hours if you drive the speed limit. Maybe 23.5 hours if there's traffic somewhere. You can do it in 23 hours driving at most 5 miles over the speed limit. It's shorter if you live in the northern part of Chandler. I don't know if sacraig had a girlfriend in the suburbs of Lexington.Perhaps the grey area is slightly more grey in Lexington...
Only a 24 hour drive from Chandler, AZ to Lexington, KY!

This year did not count toward eligibility for anyone, so Mark can play a 5th year. (Same with Alfonso Plummer for us) Players who transfer for their 5th year take up a scholarship at their new school. Guys like Trent and Demonte don't count toward our allotted scholarships.I thought the extra covid year could only be used at the current school. Does that apply to Mark Smith?
