Danger Zone
I've only been on the forum for about 6 years, but this coaching carousel boredom paired with the Adam Miller thread is the most brutal Loyalty stretch I can remember. The Meyers Leonard post is the icing on the cake.

The coaching carousel threads that brought us John Groce would like consideration for "most brutal stretch" title. If I recall correctly, that thread included a rather lengthy debate about whether or not Brad Stevens had or had not gone fishing when he said he did (and conflicting information about that weather that day) and what that might mean in terms of him accepting the position at U of I. Of course, that was also after the brutal season where everyone, even the most diehard of Weber fans, accepted that his run needed to end (aka, the year Meyers Leonard cried on the bench because the team was so bad). And once Groce was named head coach - the conciliation prize after Brad and Shaka didn't come - there were weeks of debating about whether we were getting a guy with tourney magic up his sleeves or a guy who was barely over .500 in the MAC.

The Demetreuis Jackson and Cliff Alexander/Quentin Snider recruiting threads were also their own special brands of insufferable. This Mount Rushmore of awfulness discussion might need its own thread, as we have a got a lot of material to work with.

I saw a lot of Illini fans questioning the Storr take when it happened. These people need to stop watching basketball.
What's up fellas? It's been an "interesting" few weeks to be an Illini presence on Twitter that's for sure. Mr. Rosenthal has a problem with the way I go about things and that's cool. We're not all gonna get along. That said, so I'm clear with all of you....I'm a DIE HARD IL hoops fan. I read this board regularly and I've come to enjoy many of your quirks, etc. Apparently, according to Robert, by tagging kids in tweets intended to educate the Illini fan base I am "hurting the program." I disagree. That said, as many of you know I've been hyping AJ Storr on Twitter for what seems like 4ever now and yeah, my heart broke when the dude decommitted. I am friendly with his mother, and while he's enjoying the attention, the offers etc. he really doesn't care about a lot of the things these other kids care about. If he could sleep in the gym, he would. I have confirmation, direct from the source, that Coach Frazier and Coach Alexander are doing an "excellent" job making up ground with AJ and IN MY OPINION (if he goes to college) he will re-commit to Illinois. Chin recruited him and left RIGHT while his stock was going crazy. He wanted to see what else was out there...now he knows. His mom loves IL (not sure why) and she seems to be TRYING to make it work. TFWIW

Hey, Ryan. Good to have you on the board.

We’re bout due to have a small town, down-state kid go to Champaign and develop into a real stud.

We haven’t seen much of that these last 100 years or so. Andy
Kauffmann and ???
Deon Flessner, Les Busboom, and Rick Schmidt were all from the same high school as Pence.

Flessner averaged double figures as a senior in 1966-67.

Schmidt averaged 20+ as a junior and senior 1973-1975.

I have to say... this rabbit trail someone started, though off-thread that it may be, is the most fun I've had on here since Luke, Ramses, Omar, Brandin and 'phonso signed their NLI.

This came as quite a shock to me; not knowing for sure so I had to search google map, and it appears Matteson is south of I-80. IIRC, that was the hometown of one Kendall Gill, one our most all time loved Illini.

It's beginning to look like a quality South All-Star team, wouldn't you agree?

Go Illini.
