You now have me looking forward to a time in the not-too-distant future when new recruits will be compared to Ayo (instead of Larry Bird). Someone will casually remark that one aspect of a recruit's game reminds them of Ayo. Then someone else will chime in that we should "pump the brakes" before making any comparisons with an all-time Illinois great. And that will then spark a side conversation about where Ayo slots in on the all-time Illinois list.

Followed by two pages of recycled puns.

I can here it now. "(fill in the blank) reminds me a lot of Ayo with a better jump shot."

I noticed this too. More of a push in his shooting mechanics. I'm guessing the response when he gets to college is (1) coaching staff + increased strength will improve his shooting stoke and (2) he'll adapt a viable step-back to give him the room to get off his shot.
Agree on shooting mechanics, but he seems to be consistent in his stroke and mechanics can be improved/developed.

I was struck by his very good vision. Not uber dynamic passer like Andre but good vision and efficient passing in the clips.

Just caught up with the last 10 pages. It does make me smile that when only had Goode and where having multiple misses, thread was littered with talk of how recruiting class was tanking and if we were winning why not getting recruits. Now the thread is full of why we shouldn’t take a top 40 recruit here or there because would mess with chemistry and playing time for some current players. I guess file this under recruiting is fluid — as are Loyalty’s takes on recruiting.

I think Bass is a smart move. Everyone on here obviously wants superstars, but we need player development as well. Look where we would be this year without Trent and Monte. You need these types of guys that know the system and can stick around more than 1-2 years.
*See Kentucky, 2021

Recently stumbled on a video from Ayo where he score 60 in a game while in high school. His shooting form and timing to get the shot off was waaaaay different and slower. Those things can get fixed with hard work.

Yep. If I remember correctly, he changed that in the off-season going into his freshman year. That was awesome and showed his dedication to getting better.

We talked about Brandon Miller in here several pages ago and I said a friend of a friend is a football coach at cane ridge....grain of salt here but from what I understand he and Sky Clark are friends and like the idea of playing together in college (UK).

He’s one to watch for the G League also. I haven’t seen him play in person. I’m a Memphis area guy and they are about 3 hours from me.

With every new recruit we appear to be talking to/in on, I have to pinch myself. Seems like we are in on a completely different tier of player right now.

Nothing adds legitimacy like proven success.

The players deserve a ton of credit. When you have a high degree of buy-in and guys really responding to coaching, it's an amazing thing to watch. The coaches can point to success everywhere on the floor, utilizing players in different ways. Doesn't hurt to have a headliner like Ayo, either. Love the recognition for Player of the Year, and he'll be a first rounder or potentially lottery guy this year.

I still expect closing to be a challenge --it's insanely competitive for top talent in division I basketball. But having a bigger pool of interest can only help. Really thankful for the current group and how they're building a strong program.
