Illinois only gets 1 1/3 lines?
That's it, we're done.Illinois only gets 1 1/3 lines?
Our staff is good at ID-ing kids with the right stuff (in addition to talent/skills).When I see video of the various recruits I am almost impressed by them. Makes me more appreciative of coaches ability to evaluate them and the blend them into a team. Kinda convinced that there are a very few exceptional players and a pretty large group with little differation. Becomes more of a work ethic and a williness to accept a team role than pure raw talent.
I hope we have more of a sales pitch than just “be the next Ayo”. That’s a great pitch but there’s gotta be more to go with it you would think.
My read is a "throw away" line to yet another reporter. Not even remotely concerned that that constitutes our "strategy" with Schutt.I hope we have more of a sales pitch than just “be the next Ayo”. That’s a great pitch but there’s gotta be more to go with it you would think.
So you’re saying the Bass commitment won’t hold any water?I hope we have more of a sales pitch than just “be the next Ayo”. That’s a great pitch but there’s gotta be more to go with it you would think.
Bass could be on board, but is the coaching staff? Might not be his decision. After all the rumors that the Bass commit would not hold up (still might not I guess)...He certainly looks like he is fully on board.
He could end up being the one that got away...Bass could be on board, but is the coaching staff? Might not be his decision

At the end of the day, the decision is totally in the hands of the coaching staff. Same as it ever was. Offers, verbal or written, are not a contract. If a kid visits, that's a major tell. FWLIW, I feel that our staff is very forthright with recruits, not games players.Bass could be on board, but is the coaching staff? Might not be his decision.
I don't think they are game players either. Actually I would say there's no way that Brad and co. play games. Bass might simply not be able to take a hint. Or, he is really lacking any other power 5 offers if the off the court rumors are true. The staff can't stop him from posting Illini stuff and saying he is still "committed" even if they have moved on. Worst case scenario they will simply not send him an NLI and he will eventually give it up.At the end of the day, the decision is totally in the hands of the coaching staff. Same as it ever was.
