Just curious, did you ever read the FBI transcript tape between the Adidas rep, Bill Self and Curtis Townsend? There is only one way an intelligent person could interpret that conversation.

That Nike outbid Adidas for his services...

Rodgers: While transferring to Thornton is FAR from a commitment to the beloved, nevertheless it's great news. Coach Anderson (and Underwood) clearly has made a big impression on Rodgers.

Also, want to make a general comment on our Illinois AAU recruiting: I flipping love how we've evolved from MIF dependence to a more equal footing for the Big 3.

Finally, huge, huge kudos for grabbing talent from nearby states.

Okay, with that info, how about this for tea leaves? BU and Co are still hard after both Rodgers and Whitmore. Whitmore likes what he is hearing/can’t bring himself to say no to Chester so he holds off on committing. Rodgers transfers to play for his mean streets coach and tells ILL he is in. Hearing this, ILL tells Whitmore they’re out, and, having no other reason to delay, Whitmore announces his commitment shortly thereafter?

I vote for Whitmore was waiting for an announcement that Rodgers was indeed transferring to IL HS (and essentially confirming he would commit to the Illini), and now that he has it he is ready to commit to Illinois too.

Except Rodgers hasn't actually committed

I know this is a hot take… but I’ll go with Whitmore to Nova and Rodgers to the Illini. Lol. Really going out on a limb here. On the plus side it looks like we’re gonna have a chance with Rodgers to lock him down before his Bama and Memphis visits.

I think every fan who is some semblance of realistic, will gladly take it.

minor quibble: flaming hot take, lol

Apologies if this has been posted...but after reading 0440's "someone like Monte" comment...I got excited and started watching some clips.

Also apologies for the source....but lmao at the potential scUM schadenfreude!

Forward to :46 sec and watch his perimeter defense!! A solid 15-20 seconds of D! Impressive.

You rarely see a H.S. kid play defense like that! He also looks a legit 6'7, and has the handles you want for a SF. Certainly not the crazy run-jump athlete that Whitmore is, but not many are.
