the gift that keeps on giving
Exactly why getting players to the NBA matters. I never understand the people that don't want one-and-dones for this reason. Would I prefer a guy like Ayo to a one-and-done? Of course! But the list of guys who can stay 3 years in college and then get drafted and stick around in the NBA is a lot shorter than the list of one-and-dones in the NBA. Ayo is special.

The Last Best Place
HS season. Epps is at a prep school, Combine Academy. They have a very tough schedule. Last two games were against the Overtime Elite team, easily one of the top teams in the country. Epps is even better than I thought and I was thrilled he's ours.

With Dillingham's departure (Donda), Epps has established himself as his team's alpha.

Harris' season probably hasn't started yet, as they play within the confines of the Ohio High School Association (or whatever it's called).
THE Ohio High School Association, I would assume

I love that Epps can comfortably pull 3s off the dribble/in pick and roll situations. It’s such a necessary skill for primary handlers these days. Ecstatic that he’s coming in with that.

I’ll be interested to see what his facilitation skills look like though as he looks wired to get buckets.

As long as he is not the ball hog Edwards was. Of course, that was on Painter.

Side note - I noticed when Ayo & the Bulls played Boston that Edwards is unemployed (Boston and Memphis both cut him).
In Edwards' 3 years at Purdue they won at least a share of the B1G twice, made it at least as far as the Sweet 16 each year, and ended the season ranked in the top 15 in the nation each year. Not to mention the fact that he ran wild on us, pretty much every time we played them.

We haven't had a run like that in 20 years... If Jayden Epps has that kind of career, we are going to have a lot of fun around here.

I have no data to back this up, but I feel like a lot of the great programs/teams have a core of talented 3-4 year guys that build culture and then an outstanding one and done to get them over the top. I always think of the '03 Syracuse team with this having some guys like Hakim Warrick and Gerry McNamara as a big part of the puzzle, but maybe expecting your one and done to be like Carmelo Anthony is asking a little bit too much...
