I was in Lima Peru watching AZ game on hotel TV. Gave up on game with 2 minutes to go. Had to go meet my future In-laws for the first time. I have regretted my lack of faith in the Illini that day ever since.

I was at Memorial Stadium to see us finally beat Buckeyes in 1983 and at Bloomington assembly hall to see us beat Bobby Knight.

I never really noticed it before but I love Ingram's reaction after Deron hits the 3 to tie. Jumps up like he's on the bench, then realizes he's on the floor and has to run back to play D. Funny little moment for a guy that was typically more reserved.
perfect excuse to watch it again, that's too funny. I still get chills watching that comeback

Fantastic to be talking about next years recruits. I remember in Brad's early years we would not have any fall periods committments and would be chasing unknowns from Europe into the summer. Brad has really taken last 2 years of winning, plus the BTT title and #1 seed and turned it into recruits. Weber did a fantastic job coaching the 2004 and 2005 teams but was never able to convert the on the court success to recruiting success.

In 90 seconds of game time, Luther Head:

-gets a steal and layup with his bad hamstring screaming at him down the court
-buries a 23 footer
-has the where with all to not shoot immediately after the Ingram steal and start the ball movement leading to Deron's tying shot
-in probably the most overlooked play in Illini history recovers from trying to call timeout to block Salim Stoudamire's open look at the regulation buzzer

Never forget

Harris, this is your role model right here.

This is from Luther's Wikipedia page.
"Head finished third on the Illini and fifth in the Big Ten in assist/turnover ratio(2.17)"
Third on the Illini equalled fifth in the Big Ten(!) Speaks volumes about Head and the Illinois backcourt that year.

Not gonna lie….the University of Illinois Fighting Illini will FOREVER be my team.
However, on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, I will have a close second as I will be cheering for the Ft. Wayne Mastodons like they were my team.
Please, oh please, let there be some divine intervention that allows the Mastodons make December 21, 2021 a day that will long be remembered in infamy in Ann Arbor, MI.

Yeah, let's not hope for that. We don't need a Kofi effect happening for Michigan.
